7 habits that prevent us from achieving more

It is difficult to part with them, because they bring us pleasure and a sense of comfort and security. But some habits literally slow us down, prevent us from getting what we are doing. And it’s not just about smoking and drinking.

1. Choosing safe paths

This habit is not particularly harmful. Rather, it is a choice by which many have a quiet, comfortable life. And if it suits you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Is it only your choice and is it your life? Are you dreaming deep down of something more – maybe freedom?

2. Worry about your reputation

We tend to worry about what others will say and think about us. And in the early stages of our lives, this was quite understandable. For a small child, the only way to understand who he is, what he is, what he is, is to get feedback from the world around him and, above all, from his parents. But as for adults…

We really worry too much about other people’s opinions about us. And it prevents us from doing something really bold and cool. But, as Google co-founder Larry Page says, “If you’re not doing something crazy, then you’re doing the wrong thing.”

So stop staring at the ceiling at night, remembering all the hurtful things that you were told, or freeze in indecision every time there is a chance to do or try something new. The world doesn’t really care what you do. And especially how you look.

3. Being a prisoner of limitations

We all have fears and attitudes that limit, narrow down the range of choice, and this is normal. It’s not normal to live in this cage for years. We become capable of real accomplishments only when we break through the wall of fear and dare to try something new. It is in your power to recognize your own limits and not let them determine what you do and who you are.

Blind and deaf writer, teacher, and activist Helen Keller said, “In the long run, avoiding danger is no safer than facing it. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Perhaps you should read her biography and listen to these words.

4. Pizza, beer, TV shows

Everyone needs some kind of relaxation from time to time, to cope with stress, delicious food and reasons to distract themselves. And everything would be fine, but sooner or later it can turn into a nightly habit and replace all other aspirations. Try to lead a healthier lifestyle. After all, do you want to stay active longer to achieve your goals?

5. Obsession with sex

Long before the pornhub obsession, best-selling author of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill, warned that sexual abuse could kill all creative activity, just as drugs and alcohol eventually do. He advised using the power of sexual desire as a driving energy, sublimating it into work and creativity. No one argues: sex is an extremely important, natural and ideally enjoyable part of life. The main thing is that it does not replace the rest of your life.

6. Participation in someone else’s race

Karl Lagerfeld said: “Personality begins where comparison ends.” And, perhaps, you yourself have heard more than once about how harmful it is to compare yourself with others. But it’s extremely difficult to stop doing this, especially when the “less gifted” people around you have already achieved much more than you.

How to stop waging someone else’s war and participating in someone else’s race? Try to clearly understand what you want exactly, and go to the goal at your own pace.

7. Trying too hard to be original

Trying to come up with a completely new concept is extremely exhausting. In addition, they are rarely productive, because everything has already been invented before us. So, if your goal is to “invent” something that will take the world by storm, try starting from an idea you like and making something of your own. Again, at your own pace.
