It is worth taking care of health and well-being from an early age. By directing children and young people to healthy food and physical activity, we influence their future, with the hope that they will live in good health, enjoying a good mood. Therefore, a healthy lifestyle is a wise habit that is worth developing from an early age. What are the best methods for children to catch the health bug? It’s certainly not that difficult.
A healthy breakfast every day.
A good start is essential. Unfortunately, we, parents, often forget what breakfast should consist of, which gives energy for the whole day. Therefore, we should remember to prepare a wholesome morning meal. If we want our child to be able to function properly at school, let’s eat a healthy breakfast together with him. Parents set a good example, and if they do not apply themselves to it, the child will not attach much importance to it in later years either. Let’s take care of health together.
3 + 2 = that is 5 meals a day.
Regular meals and the right amount of them are very important for children. To be able to meet everyday school challenges, they should eat five meals a day – three main meals, i.e. breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks – this is the optimal menu for your child. Smaller portions and served more often will help with the appetite.
Regular and healthy meals.
It is very important to arrange an appropriate “schedule” of meals. Children and young people should have fixed meal times. In this way, the young body regulates its functions properly – it improves metabolism and maintains blood sugar at the right level. Too long breaks in eating meals result in a decrease in energy and concentration. The child becomes lethargic and weak. Making sure that the child always has a healthy snack with him, we shape his good habits in eating wholesome meals, rich in nutrients necessary for the body. There is a good chance that the child will avoid various sweets, as well as fatty and unhealthy hamburgers. Ideally, the child would eat natural cookies or cereal bars with dried fruit. Such a snack is just health.
Learning and rest.
A healthy lifestyle is also learning and rest, and above all, harmony that should prevail in a child’s life. We often do not pay attention to whether a young person, having a full day full of duties, has time to rest, even for a moment. This moment should last at least an hour. Preferably right after a meal. Mental and physical rest is very important. During this time, let’s cook something together, talk about things at school and at friends’. It should be a casual, casual conversation. The relationship between parent and child is invaluable. It allows the child to relax, not only to think about learning, and above all, it gives a sense of this unique bond.
Sleep is the basis.
Everyone needs an adequate amount of sleep to be able to regenerate properly. Sleep is especially needed for children and adolescents who develop and grow, and in order to have the strength to explore the world, they should sleep at least 8 hours a day. Sleep should be restful, uninterrupted. Such regeneration causes greater concentration, as well as “absorption” of the mind. The child should sleep on a very comfortable bed, and before falling asleep, it is always important to ventilate the room, turn off the TV and computer. There should be silence. Let’s give the young mind a rest!
A healthy body is an active body.
A healthy lifestyle also includes daily physical activity. Unfortunately, children do not like PE, and parents often justify it, forgetting how important movement is in the lives of children and teenagers. Physical effort properly oxygenates the body, develops muscles, improves well-being, and children after physical activities do not feel tired at all, on the contrary – they have more “power” and are much happier.
„Lazy day”.
A healthy lifestyle is very important, but remember that moderation is the golden mean. The point is not to go crazy and from time to time just laze around with the child and do what he wants. The same applies to food. Let’s not feel remorse if he eats his favorite ice cream or asks for a pizza order. The key is common sense and taking care of a positive atmosphere in our homes.
