“Contraception: this is your life, this is your responsibility” – this is the motto under this motto every year all over the world celebrate the day of contraception. This year there is a special occasion – the contraceptive pill is 60 years old.

The birth control pill has changed the lives of millions of women, giving them the opportunity to plan their future and family.

“60 years ago, no one would have thought that such narrowly targeted means in medicine as hormonal contraceptives, developed to prevent unwanted pregnancies, would revolutionize not only gynecology, but also society. Today, gynecologists in their practice prescribe contraception, including on the basis of additional therapeutic effects of contraceptives, and the topic of contraception is widely discussed by public institutions in the framework of women’s health protection, ”notes Irina Gennadievna Shestakova, Ph.D., obstetrician gynecologist, doctor of ultrasound diagnostics, head of educational programs, Clinic of Doctor Fomin.
