6 travel movies that change lives

A Moorish proverb says: “He who does not travel does not know the real value of human life.” And it seems pointless to argue with this statement. We have selected six films that will help you take a fresh look at life and answer the main questions.

Traveling is often the only way out when you cannot make a decision, or you are going through a difficult time, or when it seems that the whole world is against it. Then we set off on the road, and suddenly it turns out that the world is just waiting for us to dare to explore it. We share films about travel that can change lives.

1. “Trails” (2014)

“Some wanderers feel at home everywhere; others are nowhere. I was one of the last.”

The film is about a girl who travels across Australia through the desert alone. She is accompanied only by a dog and four camels. Journalists from National Geographic find out about this crazy idea and offer her to write down all her thoughts, and they also send their photographer to the traveler, who eventually becomes more than just a reporter for a famous magazine for her.

It is interesting that the film is based on real events – the plot is based on the book of the traveler Robin Davidson herself, who really dared to go on such a dangerous journey alone. And this decision changed her life forever.

2. “Until I played in the box” (2007)

“The ancient Egyptians believed that two questions were asked at the gates of heaven: Have you found joy in life? Has your life brought joy to others?

A well-known and well-loved film could not fail to get into our selection. The picture with excellent actors in the lead roles, Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, tells about two elderly men who learned about a terrible diagnosis – they both have cancer. Deciding that there is nothing to lose, they decide on a crazy act and go on a trip around the world.

In their list of countries: India, China, USA, France, Tanzania, Egypt. In the end, this trip gave them such emotions and impressions that they may never have experienced. And it was she who helped them to feel and realize the full value and fragility of human life.

3. “Eat Pray Love” (2010)

“If you are brave enough to throw away everything familiar and comfortable and go on a journey for the truth, to seek the truth in yourself or the world around you, then the truth will be revealed to you.”

It happens that you dream about something, and then everyday worries pile up, and your dream becomes further and further away from you. So much so that you generally forget that you once had a dream. This happened to the main character of the film “Eat, Pray, Love.” She suddenly realized that before she had a taste for life, but now there was not a trace of him left.

She decides to go to Italy, India and Bali for a year, where amazing things happen to her. One of the characters in the film says: “If you can clear your mind, a magical gate will open for you, and then the energy of the Universe will pour into these gates.”

4. “Wild” (2014)

“I never would have known that people are on my hobbies list if I hadn’t decided to go solo through this damn desert.”

Without a doubt, one of the best roles of Reese Witherspoon, in which the actress proved that she can play not only frivolous blondes. The film is based on a true story and based on the book of the same name, about a girl named Cheryl Strayed, who travels alone along the Pacific Ridge route, specially designed for hiking.

Its length is more than 1500 kilometers, and it stretches across America from the Canadian to the Mexican border. Cheryl survived the divorce and the death of her mother, who painfully left before her eyes. On her journey, passing through forests, mountains, glaciers and endless deserts in a few months, she gradually found herself again.

In the end, the heroine managed to reach the end of the Pacific route, which changed her forever. Because “if the strength leaves you, keep going in spite of.”

5. Hector’s Journey in Search of Happiness (2014)

“Once upon a time there was a psychiatrist named Hector, who was scared to death of death because he didn’t really live.”

Once upon a time there was a psychiatrist named Hector who listened to complaints about life from his patients for years. And one fine (or not so) day, he realized that he was absolutely unhappy and that the only thing he really wanted was to understand what is the nature of happiness and how it can be achieved.

Without thinking twice, he goes on a journey in which he meets amazing people and gets into incredible stories (in one of the countries he was taken prisoner). He travels through China, Africa, America, Great Britain, to come to one simple truth – happiness can only be found in oneself.

6. The Incredible Life of Walter Mitty (2013)

“To see the world around, experience dangers, overcome them, look through walls, be closer, find each other, feel. This is the purpose of life.”

A film about the amazing beauty of Iceland – it is simply impossible not to be amazed at the landscapes that are shown in the picture. And it’s also about Ben Stiller, who not only played the main role in the film, but also acted as a director. The hero of the film is a simple office worker who leads an ordinary office life, periodically diving too deep into his fantasies and confusing them with reality.

This is a film about courage, which allows you to fulfill an old dream, leave everything and go on the road. And this road can lead to something really important and real.
