6 tips to protect your baby from the cold

A baby’s body is weakened compared to that of an adult, who cannot move and cannot regulate his temperature. We must then help him fight against the cold. Certain precautions can be taken to deal with falling temperatures.
1. Opt for the stroller rather than the baby carrier
If the baby carrier is very practical and the baby feels safe against you, it is nevertheless to be avoided in winter. The baby carrier can compress their legs and block blood flow. Consequence in case of extreme cold: this can cause frostbite.
So, to protect your baby from the cold, opt for the stroller that will allow the child to move and warm up. Add a blanket and footmuff to it.
2. Layer the clothes
Hats, gloves, scarves, socks: protect the extremities! Heat losses are greater in children than in adults, so care must be taken that the heat does not come out.
Feel free to layering several layers of suitable clothing that will retain heat. Being not very mobile, consider covering it with an extra layer in relation to you.
3. Remember to moisturize it regularly
Winter and summer alike, babies sweat! To ensure that your baby does not become dehydrated, take care toui offer water several times a day, preferably at room temperature.
When going out, take a bottle of water with you always.
4. Protect her skin with moisturizer
Babies’ skin is very thin, and the cold weakens the skin, which can cause chapping around the mouth, sores and redness.
To avoid the risk of skin dryness, apply a thick layer of moisturizer. Insist on the driest areas (the cheeks) and the most fragile (lips, around the eyes).
5. Limit temperature variations
Beware of temperature differences which can be misleading. Do not overheat your interior so that your baby adapts better to low temperatures. And when you get home, find out.
The logic is the same in the car, make sure it is not too hot. If he is sweating, he may catch a cold when he goes out.
6. Avoid suppressing his nap
Exposure to cold increases your baby’s energy expenditure. In order to face the low temperatures of winter, he must recharge his batteries and have his sufficient quota of sleep.
It is best to take your baby out during the “hot” hours of the day, between 11h and 15h.
