Therefore, it is worthwhile to think carefully about how to save free space and make it as comfortable and functional as possible. The modern interior does not call for luxury or exoticism as it used to. Furniture and decor have become the backdrop and environment for a comfortable life. The interior creates a mood and helps to recuperate. Such principles are embedded in many modern interior styles, for example, Scandinavian. The main feature of this popular approach is the simplicity, light colors and functionality of everything in the apartment. Focus on these principles when choosing the first and main elements of the new interior.
Storage system
Instead of buying cabinet cabinets, consider setting up a more functional walk-in closet. While the premises are still free, there is a chance to allocate a special space for clothes with the help of partitions.
Designers advise to equip it in a small rectangular room without architectural decorations. The minimum dressing area is 3 sq. m, and one of the walls should be at least 2 m in length: you can conveniently hang everything along it, so that you do not waste time looking for the right thing later.
A storage system will be required for a dressing room: special guides for fastening to the wall and brackets. Any devices can be installed on them: bars for hangers, mesh shelves, baskets, etc.
It is advisable to provide ventilation in the dressing room.
In small apartments, especially in studios, where it is not possible to allocate even 3 sq. m, the dressing room will be replaced by wardrobes – they do not take up much space. You need two cabinets – to store outerwear and shoes separately from jackets, dresses and linen: for example, one in the hallway, and the other in the room.
If the apartment has a niche or other small space that can be set aside for storage, take a closer look at the built-in wardrobes. It is very convenient to organize a storage system in them, taking up the entire space from floor to ceiling: clothes are hung up above, and boxes and baskets are placed below. Leave some of the space free for a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, sports bags.
Bed
An apartment is not an apartment without her. At a certain age, sleeping on the couch already becomes a crime against yourself. Therefore – the bed.
It can be anything: quite simple, from unpainted wood in rustic style or metal, with high legs or equipped with its own storage system. The main thing is to have a high-quality mattress, without which it is impossible to sleep well.
A separate question is how to put the bed. Signs forbid sleeping with your feet to the door, head to the windows. And the designers advise placing the bed with the headboard against the wall in the middle of the room – and do not be afraid that such a technique will “eat away” all the free space.
Cubes and squares
Modular furniture is the same storage system, but for books, gadgets, tools and other items. Usually these are racks of different configurations and heights, to which you can pick up shelves, legs, doors, drawers and baskets.
The convenience of modular furniture is that you can independently set the number of levels, the length and shape of the final structure. The modules can be connected, stacked on top of each other, fixed to the wall, leave space between them for baskets, boxes or household appliances. It is possible to use modules of different colors in one system. Whether to hang the doors or not is also up to you.
You can install furniture right in the middle of the room, dividing it into zones, or go the more traditional way, placing the shelving along the wall. Finally, you can collect several separate fragments, some of which you will hang on the walls. This approach makes it possible to maximize the use of space: for example, some of the modules can be stacked on top of each other to the right and left of the front door – this space is usually not occupied by anything.
Kitchen set
We used to think that project kitchens are expensive. In fact, kitchens made of democratic materials perfectly combine price, design and quality. And they are simply irreplaceable in new buildings, where the premises can surprise you not only by the size, but also by the angles or their absence. Individual kitchen kits can be arranged as you like, taking into account the characteristics of the room. Somewhere the option is suitable when all the furniture stands along one wall, somewhere – at an angle near adjacent walls, somewhere it is more logical to arrange the maximum furniture in several rows at different heights.
Together with furniture, it is better to immediately select kitchen appliances so that they match in color, style and size. Basic gadgets – stove or hob, refrigerator and extractor hood.
Bathroom Accessories
A beautiful curtain with an interesting print, a cup for a toothbrush, a bottle-soap dish, a container for a brush – it’s cool if they are combined with each other and with the color of the tile. By the way, all of them, except for the curtain, can be attached to the wall with special brackets. And they will be accompanied by a special shelf for a smartphone.
Waste basket – a stainless steel model with a hinged lid will perfectly fit into almost any bathroom.
Pay attention to the mini-shelves with lattice baskets. The most practical models are those that are fixed on a flat tile with suction cups. The shelf company will be made up of wire baskets of different sizes: a small one for storing hand towels and a large one for linen.
You can’t do without a rug: choose not only for the compatibility of the pattern with the rest of the items in the bathroom, but also for the strength of the base. It’s a great idea to choose a rug without graphics, but in the same color as your new bath towels. Consider installing a mirrored cabinet above your sink. It is an accessory, a mirror and additional storage space at the same time.
Decor in rooms
Winter is just around the corner! Now textiles will be very relevant, which will coincide in style with the traditional set of Christmas and New Year’s decor. Candles and Christmas tree decorations will go well with pillows and a blanket with two-tone geometric prints or plaid.
Universal design elements – things in the neoclassical style. It is a combination of light gray and deep blue colors, polished chrome, mirrored surfaces. But the wood – without any polishing, covered with a layer of white or dark blue glossy paint.
