6 precautions to take with essential oils in summer

In the sun, many essential oils can stain the skin, or cause an allergic reaction. These so-called “photosensitizing” oils, often citrus-based (but not only), are to be absolutely avoided.

Wait before exposing yourself to the sun

After applying an essential oil on the skin, you must wait at least 3 hours before exposing yourself to the sun. This can be up to 6 hours after application, depending on the degree of sunshine and the essential oil used. It is better, in case of doubt, to refer to the package leaflet or to contact the pharmacist.
