6 main malfunctions of MBS dishwashers and their independent repair

Although the MBS brand is not very popular on the market, dishwashers are still produced under its leadership. If the equipment is in operation, then you had to deal with malfunctions or breakdowns of parts and assemblies. Sometimes it is difficult to determine why the machine does not start, so the MBS dishwasher error codes will help you find the fault.

How are MBS fault codes deciphered?

What are breakdown codes and how to understand what they mean? Modern dishwashers have a built-in self-diagnosis system. In the event of a stoppage of work, the machine starts a program that alternately checks the internal components of the unit. When a breakdown is found, symbols are displayed or indicators on the panel flash. PMM “MBS” provides for only two types of codes:

Error codes are displayed on the PMM display

  • E1 means that water enters the hopper very slowly. The cause may be a clogged inlet filter or hose, a blocked valve, or a check valve that is not fully open. All these factors must be checked before starting the repair.
  • E4. The value of the error is such that there was an overflow of water in the tank. The reason could be a strong pressure in the water supply, a faulty filling valve, incorrect operation of the level sensor (pressure switch).

In the event of a leak, unplug the machine immediately and close the inlet valve.

The codes do not always report a malfunction, sometimes it’s a system failure. Rebooting will help eliminate the failure and improve the operation of the equipment. Here’s how to restart PMM MBS:

  1. Unplug the machine.
  2. Wait 10-15 minutes.
  3. Reconnect and take a look at the screen.

Have the characters disappeared from the display? If not, then you will have to look for a problem and replace the damaged elements.

Repair of malfunctions of the MBS dishwasher

Before proceeding with self-repair, make sure that the equipment is not under warranty. After dismantling the case, the obligations of the seller will become invalid. Therefore, it is easier to contact the service center.

If the dishwasher has worked faithfully for several years, then feel free to proceed with the repair. How to fix problems with your own hands, as well as what kind of breakdowns are typical for the MBS brand, we will describe below.

Causes of breakdowns of the MBS dishwasher

If the machine does not report a malfunction itself, then we will find out the cause of the breakdown. The main thing is to pay attention to the signs that PMM gives. Here are the problems that are typical for the MBS dishwasher:

  • The equipment does not turn on. What does it mean? The mains filter in the machine has blown or the circuit breaker has tripped. There is low pressure in the water supply or there is no electricity supply. The electronic door lock did not work.
  • Waste fluid does not drain from the tank. The drain hose is kinked, the sewer or drain filter is clogged. It is possible that the pump impeller is blocked by a foreign object (bone, fragments of dishes). Or the drain pump has failed.

There is liquid in the pan

  • The machine does not dry the dishes. Why does this happen? The cause of the malfunction is an incorrectly selected program or placement of dishes. Perhaps you forgot to fill in the rinse aid or it was not enough.
  • Water does not come out of the sprinkler nozzles. The holes are probably clogged, the atomizer is blocked, or there is a problem with the circulation pump that pumps the liquid.

What to do in case of breakdowns? Study our recommendations and start repairing. Let’s take a closer look at each problem.

Water enters the tank slowly or not at all

Start by inspecting the fill hose. It must be level. Perhaps it was passed on by the leg of the machine or it was twisted. Next is to clean the system of debris. Do this:

  • Shut off the valve.
  • Disconnect the hose from the PMM body.
  • Remove the intake filter with pliers.
  • Rinse it under the tap. Adhering rust can be removed with a brush and soda.

Inlet filter location

Make sure the hopper door is tightly closed. Until the electronic interlock is activated, the control module will not signal the valve to open. This is how the leak detection system works. Therefore, press the door more tightly against the body, and a click should be heard.

The only way to make sure that the valve is working properly is through diagnostics. If you have a multimeter, then do a simple test:

  • The part is located immediately behind the intake hose.
  • Disconnect the terminals from the element coil.
  • Press the multimeter probes to the valve contacts.
  • Look at the value on the screen, the working part will show from 500 to 1500 ohms.
  • Otherwise, the display will not change.

How to check the valve, look at the video:

To replace, unscrew the inlet element mounting bolts and install the replacement part. It is better to choose an original spare part that is suitable for your PMM model.

Machine won’t start

There are two reasons for this problem. The first is the lack of water intake. In this case, the indicators on the panel light up, but the washing program does not start. How to deal with this problem is described above.

The second is an electronic problem. At the same time, the panel does not respond at all to pressing, the bulbs do not light up. Here’s what to check:

  • Is there electricity in the room.
  • Is the dishwasher plugged in? The plug may have been disconnected from the outlet.
  • Is the power cord OK? If damage to the insulation is visible, replace the cord immediately.
  • Is the outlet working? Connect another device to it and make sure it works.

It is better to entrust any problems with the electrician to the master.

Another problem may be the network filter. This fuse protects all electronics of the machine from power surges. Therefore, the filter suffers in the first place. There is a detail behind the cord. It is enough to inspect the fuse to make sure it is broken. On its surface, burns and swelling will be visible. In this case:

This is what the filter looks like

  • Disconnect the wiring from the filter.
  • Unscrew fasteners.
  • Install replacement part.

To avoid problems with electronics, it is recommended to install a voltage stabilizer.

Fluid won’t drain from the tank

This is indeed a problem where food remains along with water in the pan. Until the problem is fixed, the operation of the machine becomes impossible. Here’s what to check first:

  • Drain hose location. It must not be kinked, otherwise the obstruction will prevent the liquid from going down the drain.
  • Sewerage or siphon. Disconnect the hose from the pipe connection and check for blockage. It is better to call a plumber to clean the sewer.

Also check the drain filter. According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, the part should be cleaned after each wash. Do this:

  • Open the hopper and take out the baskets.
  • Unscrew the filter in the pan.
  • Clean from debris, rinse with water with soda or citric acid.
  • Remove water from the mounting hole.
  • Remove the protective cover and check if the pump impeller is blocked.

If all these methods did not help to cope with the problem, then it is necessary to check and replace the pump. Here’s how to do it yourself:

  • Disconnect PMM from the network and communications.
  • Turn the body sideways.
  • Remove the bottom by unfastening the latches or unscrewing the screws.
  • Disconnect the terminals from the pump.
  • Loosen the hose clamp and remove.
  • Check pump and remove.

In case of malfunction, install a new part in reverse order.

Nozzles don’t spray water well.

Nozzles are holes in the sprinklers. The circulation pump (motor) pumps and delivers water under pressure, so the jets break out with enough force to wash dirt from the dishes. Perhaps the holes are clogged with debris or the engine is out of order.

Cleaning the impellers is easy:

  • Remove the nozzles by pulling up or twisting to the side.
  • Clean the holes with a toothpick, rinse under the tap.

But if the pump does not work, you will have to completely change the unit. The above describes how to disassemble the bottom of the dishwasher. How to fix breakdowns? Then proceed like this:

  • Unfasten the wiring from the recirculation unit.
  • Loosen the clamp and remove the pipe from its place.
  • Unscrew the bolt of the second clamp and dismantle the hose.
  • Install a new engine.

PMM does not dry dishes

You take out the plates, and there are wet streaks on them? The drying mode was supposed to dry the dishes, but this did not happen. Why? There are several reasons, and all of them are related to operational errors.

  • The devices are placed too tightly, obscuring part of each other. Place the dishes as directed in the instructions.
  • Little rinse aid. Increase the dose and pour into the dispenser.
  • The crockery was taken out too soon. Do not take out the cutlery immediately after washing, let them dry and cool down. Remove dishes from the lower baskets immediately so that moisture from the upper baskets does not drip onto the surface.
  • Program selected incorrectly. Set a long cycle to dry longer.

The instruction will help to avoid errors in operation and premature breakdowns of the PMM. Follow the recommendations and take care of the equipment.
