52% of teens have experienced bullying in schools

Bullying is insults, humiliation, beatings, property damage or ignoring. Remember the movie Scarecrow. This is a clear example of how a boycott turns into more sophisticated bullying and what consequences this leads to. Unfortunately, every child can be in the place of the heroine.

Today, attention to the topic of bullying, fortunately, is increasing again. Some large companies emphasize the importance of combating this type of violence. Sber went further and offered practical help teenagers and their parents in countering bullying.

Troubled statistics

Children are the most common victims of bullying. According to agency research Mikhailov & Partners, 52% of the adolescents surveyed have experienced bullying in schools. And in a recent survey VCIOM it turned out that 46% of schoolchildren were victims of bullying at the age of 11-17 years.

Cyberbullying

Now a new form of bullying is gaining popularity – bullying on the Internet. For example, aggressors create groups on social networks where they spread humiliating rumors, write threatening messages, blackmail, and much more. Russia occupies one of the first places in terms of cyberbullying among teenagers. As a rule, teenagers are spurred on by the illusion of anonymity, so bullying in the online space is very common.

Consequences of bullying

Any kind of bullying leads to sad consequences. It is not only about physical harm, but also about the traumatized psyche. Children and adolescents who are humiliated suffer from depressive-anxiety disorders and have low self-esteem.

Even as adults, victims have painful memories of bullying. They may exhibit psychosomatic disorders and symptoms of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

The initiators of bullying are also prone to developing depression, criminal tendencies, and the emergence of alcohol and drug addiction. It is important to note that these children have problems with school performance.

How to help a child

Any student can become a victim of bullying. If you suspect that your child has been the target of bullying or is the aggressor himself, do not stand aside. Be sure to discuss the situation with him, help find a way out. If the need arises, feel free to talk to teachers and other parents. The main thing is not to leave the child alone with his problem.

Sber launched a campaign to support parents and children “Protection from Bullying”. The action includes the video material “Stop Bullying”, where the most common topics of bullying are discussed in a comfortable and familiar format for a teenager. The material was developed jointly with the psychologists of the “TRAVLY.NET” program.
