5 year old woman walks on crutches due to unsuccessful cesarean

The 29-year-old mother of three admits that the last birth turned her life upside down.

Looking at this girl, it seems as if she is trying to recover from the consequences of a car accident. Young – she’s not yet 30 – a mother of three children walks, leaning heavily on a cane. Yes, and she mastered it recently, until now she moved on crutches. As Kirsty Wood herself says, the third birth ruined her life. She became pregnant, being an absolutely healthy person. And after giving birth, she turned into a disabled person.

Kirsty gave birth to her third baby by cesarean section, like her two older children. There were no other options – after assessing Kirsty’s condition, her obstetrician appointed a date for a planned operation. Kirsty herself was practically not worried, because the previous birth went smoothly. But not at this time.

“I was not immediately able to get an epidural anesthesia. Two anesthesiologists, four attempts – they didn’t succeed, and it hurt me a lot. But then the pain relief “kicked in”, our baby Bart was born, and I forgot about all this, ”says Kirsty.

After childbirth, the pain did not go away, but this is normal – not everything heals right away. But day by day, the sensations did not subside, but, on the contrary, intensified.

“I felt like there were a bunch of bricks on my thighs, the pain in my groin and legs was just unbearable,” Kirsty recalls. – My doctor said that this is normal, everything will pass, but it did not get any easier. I could not understand what was happening, because before the birth I was absolutely healthy. “

The girl could not walk properly and used crutches, her legs hurt so much. And even now, when she can move with a cane, her mother accompanies her everywhere – to school, to shopping.

“I have to take care of the children, and I myself need a guardian. It’s so humiliating, ”Kirsty says upset.

Moreover, Kirsty developed incontinence, as she completely stopped feeling when it was time for her to go to the toilet. And she had to say goodbye to sex altogether – the sensitivity of her genitals disappeared, but the pain did not go anywhere.

After a year of torment, the doctors nevertheless admitted that Kirsty’s problems were something beyond the usual rehabilitation after childbirth and sent her for examination. She was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and was found to have accumulation of fluid on the spine – just where the injections fell under the epidural anesthesia. It was impossible to remove the fluid, the risk is too great that Kirsty will remain completely paralyzed after the intervention.

“I feel trapped in the body of an 80-year-old woman. I was told that I would never be able to have children again. And my problem isn’t going anywhere. Now I get Botox shots in my bladder every 9 months to solve my incontinence problem. Every time – under anesthesia, but even that is better than constantly walking with a catheter. ”

To the credit of Daniel, Kirsty’s husband, he tries to support his wife, but admits that their life has become much more difficult. After all, Kirsty has practically become a disabled person.

“In spite of everything, I do not regret at all that I decided on a third child. Bart is my little sunshine. I hope that someday medicine will be able to help me and at least partially restore my ruined life, ”says the girl.
