Martynka needs our help to live. He must go for treatment immediately! The 5-year-old suffers from brain stem glioma. The girl has paresis of the right side of her body, problems with walking and an anxiety of space. The family asks for funds for a therapy that is a chance for life.
When the first symptoms started, their parents did not associate them with any disease. Martynka began to fall into hysteria for no reason, mainly in the morning, they were not able to calm her down. In addition, she started to do everything slower – she ate slower, walked slower. The girl had blood tests done, but everything was fine. And the cancer? She had no symptoms that would indicate this: she wasn’t vomiting, she wasn’t dizzy, she didn’t lose her balance. Everything changed when the 5-year-old was referred for an MRI of the head.
Instead of peace of mind, the parents received a cruel diagnosis – a tumor grew in Martynka’s head. Repeating the contrast test confirmed this. – As we were standing, we got into the car, CD in hand, and drove to the CZD to Warsaw. We were counting on our quick action to make Martyna recover. We immediately agreed to treatment, to exhaustive chemotherapy, then radiation … and it didn’t help. The tumor is larger, it has grown to almost 5 cm in diameter, and it gives fatal neurological symptoms: Martynka has a large right-sided paresis, fear of space, imbalance, problems with speaking. I need our help every step of the way. A ventricular valve surgery was required to avoid hydrocephalus. From the very beginning, we looked for help abroad in the best pediatric neurosurgery and oncology centers. We were horrified to discover that worldwide DIPG was synonymous with a death sentence, and that treatment ended up with temporary relief from radiation therapy. We didn’t even get it – we read on siepomaga.pl.
«Sorry, your child has DIPG, we are not able to help» – such responses were received by Martynka’s parents. Unfortunately, the chemistry does not work for this tumor. The 5 cm tumor is still in the girl’s head. What to do? Finally, there is… an answer from Harley Street Hospital in London that, unfortunately, Martyna is not eligible for treatment. But that’s not all – you can try it at the Instituto de Oncología Intervencionista clinic in Monterrey, Mexico. This clinic specializes in treating DIPG tumors by administering a combination of chemotherapy directly into the tumor’s feeding artery and complex immunotherapy that stimulates the body to fight the cancer cells. This innovative treatment brings very good results. A few days ago, the first child from Poland with DIPG started treatment there, Martynka may be the second … – we read on siepomaga.pl.
However, for Martynka to start treatment, huge money is needed. One cycle costs almost $ 50. There should be 000 such cycles … Parents of a 4-year-old cannot even afford half of one cycle and cannot collect such a large amount themselves.
