If the country house was empty in winter, it will take some time for it to become habitable again.
Project Manager for work with clients “Leroy Merlin”
Step 1. Ventilate the rooms
What you need to get rid of right away is dampness. We open windows and doors in all rooms, including the attic and basement. We dry dense textiles that could become saturated with moisture (carpets, blankets, pillows). If water has accumulated in the cellar, pump it out. At the same time, we inspect the walls for cracks and fungus. Perhaps, when everything is dry, it is worth updating the antiseptic impregnation. Mold appears every year, and the foundation is flooded? We include in the work plan a check of the ventilation and drainage system.
It is better to choose a warm sunny day for cleaning.
Step 2. We heat the house
Before turning on the electric heater, it is important to make sure that the wiring is not damaged. If the heating is stove, we inspect the chimney. Good traction is one of the top safety rules. Is there debris or soot in the pipe? We remove them with a cable, brush or special liquid. You may need to call professionals.
Step 3. Turn on the water supply
We install mixers. If necessary, we change the filters, connect the pump. We open the taps one by one and let the air come out. We check pipes, cisterns, boilers, radiators for leaks. If everything is dry, connect the washing machine and boiler. We clean the drains of debris, add bioactivators to the septic tanks. They will revive the microflora in the sewer and remove the unpleasant odor.
Step 4. Eliminate minor breakdowns
We inspect the roof – cracks could appear in it over the winter, especially in the seams and at the joints. We treat small areas with roofing sealant. If rot appears on the frames, jambs, doors and gates, we clean the damaged area, dry it with a construction hairdryer and soak it with an antiseptic. We clean and lubricate the locks and hinges. We check the strength of wooden furniture, whether it has suffered from dampness and rodents. Serious breakdowns requiring a thorough approach are recorded in the plan.
Step 5. We do general cleaning
First of all, we look for traces of mice and rats in the house. We plug up the minks, disinfect all surfaces, including walls and cabinets. We lay out the means from rodents. Do not forget to use a mask and gloves. An antibacterial agent is useful even if there were no pests in the country. We wash dishes with him and wash textiles – from curtains to clothes. We ventilate the shoes outside.
