5 things in the house that absolutely must not be washed

Downright good news for housewives – fans of true purity. It turns out that wet cleaning is not as useful as we used to think.

Wash, wipe, clean to perfection – some housewives even sin with too frequent cleaning. Moreover, there are so many miracle cleaning and detergents in stores that your eyes run up. But some things are best left alone. And if you wash – then not with your own hands, but entrust it to specialists.

1. Carpet

On the one hand, it is beautiful. On the other hand, it is practical and convenient. On the third, the carpet collects all dust, dirt, animal hair, absorbs unpleasant odors and becomes a factor that provokes the development of allergies. And then it also starts to smell bad. Therefore, it is imperative to clean it, but without undue zeal. Some people try to wash the carpet in the bathroom and dry it on the balcony, which is absolutely wrong! To properly clean a carpet, you need to know how and from what it is made in order to choose the right detergent.

Handmade carpets, for example, are cleaned only with special hydrocarbon solvents, glue-based carpets are afraid of water – delving into all these subtleties can be tiresome. If dried improperly, the carpet may take the wrong shape, absorb odors, for example, tobacco, fried oil, soot; insects, seeds and pollen of plants, street dust are hammered into it. In addition, moisture in the carpet can lead to mold.

Therefore, there is only one way out – dry cleaning, where you should contact twice a year.

2. Paintings

Here, as with carpets, it is also important to know what kind of painting is in front of you. If we are talking about oil painting on canvas, which has a relief surface, then such a thing cannot be simply taken and wiped with a wet cloth, generously flavored with detergent. Washing will damage the paint layer and may stain. It is best to dust off the painting with a special microfiber brush or cloth. But if the canvas is heavily soiled and the brush has not corrected the situation, then you should not experiment and clean the picture with spray cans, solvents, soapy water and other means. Therefore, it is better to contact a professional restorer – he will explain how to care for your masterpiece.

3. Sofa and armchairs

Upholstered furniture experiences a lot of stress in its life. Children jump on it, drinks are spilled on it, it gets dirty with dirty hands, and pets treat furniture without any respect … But furniture is not a blouse that can be thrown into the washing machine and washed. However, diligently wiping dirty stains from furniture with sponges and detergents is also not worth it. The only result of such washing is that the dirt, together with soapy water, is clogged deeper into the fabric. It is almost impossible to wash the product and foam 100% with water. As a result, instead of cleanliness and freshness – dampness, mold, bacteria, unpleasant odor and premature death of your favorite armchair. If you do not know the exact characteristics of the upholstery fabric and the parameters of the furniture filler, then, at best, you simply will not get rid of stains, and at worst, you will ruin the sofa and armchairs.

Of course, it is necessary to clean them. After all, coffee contains a small amount of oil, which is gradually deposited on the insides of the coffee maker. These coffee oils only make your espresso richer in flavor and aroma, but over time there are too many of them. But cleaning is different. For example, a geyser coffee maker does not tolerate soap. If you rinse it thoroughly with some vigorous dishwashing detergent, you risk then enjoying coffee with the taste of this liquid for weeks. And the smell will be the same – not invigorating.

Therefore, we will give a banal advice – read the instructions for your coffee maker. The manufacturer will not advise bad.

5. Bed mattress

If you have the right daily routine, then you spend a third of your life in bed. At the same time, it depends on the mattress how cozy and comfortable you will be and how well you sleep. Therefore, it is necessary, firstly, to choose it correctly, and secondly, to properly care for it.

There are many ways to clean your mattress at home. But what you definitely don’t need to do with it is to wash it, since it will be quite problematic to dry it. Well, the easiest way to protect your beauty from stains and other dirt is to buy a mattress topper. Another option is to put on the “main” mattress another, thinner one, which can be washed, if not in a regular machine, then in the laundry.
