5 steps to use the “Spin” mode in the washing machine

The automatic washing machine learned to wring clothes back in the 40s of the twentieth century. This greatly facilitated the process of washing, because it took a lot of effort to cope with heavy bedspreads and duvet covers. Today, such a function exists in any SMA. Many consider it as an automatic operation of the device, which is mandatory for washing programs. This is a big misconception, since the possibilities of the regime in terms of application are much wider. To use it with benefit, you need to at least know what the spin icon looks like on a washing machine, and as a maximum, understand all the nuances of its use.

What is the sign of the spin

In almost any typewriter, this icon is indicated by a picture with a folded spiral, reminiscent of a snail house. Washer manufacturers depict the “snail” in different ways (the number of curls may vary), which, however, is not important for the mode itself.

Some manufacturers, for example, Beko, LG, Zanussi, for convenience, often indicate a function on the control panel with a word, and not with an icon (“snail”).

But there are also combined options: a picture plus an inscription.

In many washing machines, the mode is often taken out as a separate option. Sometimes it is combined with rinsing or draining. This is necessary so that the user can simply wring things out, for example, after a normal hand wash.

The number of revolutions of the drum depends on the CMA model. The minimum allowable number is 400 rpm, the maximum is 1800 rpm. They can also be set by the user himself, using the handle or button (depending on the model) for selecting the speed on the control panel.

The faster the drum rotates, the drier the laundry will come out. But in practice, the maximum speed is often useless. For most types of things, 800–1200 rpm is enough.

Frequent use of high speeds adversely affects the efficiency of the component mechanisms of the device and contributes to their rapid wear. The risk of damage to things is also high. Therefore, the washing machine automatically limits the choice of the number of revolutions if the maximum number of revolutions allowed for a particular program is exceeded. There are such restrictions in many washing machines, for example, “Aristone” and “Indesite”, in the “Wool”, “Synthetics” and “Silk” modes.

How to use the “Spin” mode

There are no difficulties in using the function. Even an “inexperienced” user can handle it. The procedure includes the following sequence of actions:

  1. We put clothes in the CMA drum. The volume of things will depend on the maximum allowable load of a particular washing machine model. Overloading of linen, as well as its shortage, should be excluded. Because it may cause an error in the software.
  2. We close the hatch door.
  3. Turn the toggle switch to the “Spin” icon.
  4. Using the handle or pressing the button with the corresponding inscription, we set the drum rotation frequency (rpm).

Recall! The choice can be limited automatically and depend on which program was originally selected.

  5. We start the program by pressing the “Start / Pause” button.

In most CMAs (Bosch, Samsung, Candy and others) it is possible to change the drum rotation speed not only before starting the program, but also in the middle of the cycle without stopping it.

Disabling the spin option

Many things (from wool, silk and other delicate fabrics) may be prohibited from twisting. This will be indicated by a special sign on the product label. It is not at all necessary to refuse machine washing of such clothes if there is a picture in the form of a crossed-out spiral in the washer (or the number “0” in the list of spin speed options).

This icon indicates the “no spin” function and is provided by many CMA manufacturers. What does the washer do if this option is disabled? First of all, it stops spinning the laundry. But each manufacturer has its own “but”.

In Electrolux machines, this option means the following: all stages of spinning things are canceled and replaced with one drain, preventing deep wrinkles from forming on the laundry. In this case, more water is used during rinsing than usual.

In CMA “Bosch”, the use of this option involves only the abolition of the final stage of spinning the laundry. After the last rinse, there is no drain, so the clothes remain in the water. The function is indicated not by a crossed out snail, but by a basin.

The “spin” sign on washing machines is simple and universal in general, but it is used for each specific SMA model in an individual meaning. That is why it is so important to read the instruction manual of the equipment. After all, it is provided not only to help eliminate the problem, but also to improve the quality of washing, using all its capabilities as efficiently as possible.
