In the modern world, strength and resilience are valued, self-care is not held in high esteem. As a result, more and more people are pushing themselves to exhaustion. To prevent this from happening, you need to know when to stop.
We need to complete numerous tasks, attend events, cook dinners. We are used to feeling a huge responsibility, the stress of which is reinforced by strict deadlines. For us, this is the norm, after all, we are adults and can handle anything. But, considering fatigue as just an excuse, it will not take long to bring yourself to exhaustion.
Of course, you can’t ignore obligations, but you need to allocate time for rest and recovery — this helps to maintain efficiency. But we live in captivity of stereotypes: those who work with their last strength command respect, and the thought of taking a break seems to be a sign of weakness and lack of will. But it’s not. It takes courage to admit that you are human, and unlike robots, you need to rest.
Signs that you need to take a break
1. Constantly sick
The last month has not been easy: in addition to sinusitis in the midst of a busy work week, now a cough that does not go away. Of course, you didn’t weaken your immune system on purpose. Important events cause stress, which exhausts the body. It’s time to give your brain a rest. In anticipation of a busy week, try to get enough sleep and eat right. This will allow you to feel better and achieve maximum results.
2. Worry about the past
During the day, you remember failures and failures: you made a mistake in your calculations, you haven’t gone to the gym for a month already … The brain tends to concentrate on the negative when you feel the maximum tension. It sounds like you need a chance to rest and time to sort out your thoughts and feelings.
3. Don’t take care of yourself
If you’re skipping lunches to finish work or canceling doctor appointments to save time, it’s time to slow down. Of course, duties are important, but health is the main thing. If you do not take care of yourself, it increases stress, let the body relax, let the brain rest. Make a schedule so that you do not neglect your health.
4. You have trouble sleeping
A full night’s sleep is the best way to get rid of weakness and fatigue. If you can’t fall asleep for a long time, this is an alarm signal. Most likely, a lot of thoughts are rushing through your head that do not allow you to relax. If you give your brain a rest and disconnect from problems, it will help restore sleep.
5. You stay in apathy for a long time
There are so many emotions that we cannot control them. The main thing is to observe the feelings and accept them. But if you notice that you are constantly feeling sad, apathetic and do not want to do anything, this is a reason to be wary. If the thought of exercising is depressing, cooking dinner becomes an overwhelming task, think about rest. It is needed to recover.
