5 signs that you have chosen a bad daycare
Finding a good one in all respects is not very easy at all. But we are trying!
Each city has dozens or even hundreds of kindergartens – public and private, with different methods, timetable grids, rules and approaches. And, more importantly, with different people. Pavel Taruntaev, a psychologist at the Interesting Kindergarten network, told Wday.ru how to choose a kindergarten where the child will be comfortable, useful and pleasant.
1. See how many children are in the group
If the kids are 20, 25, or even more, the educational and upbringing processes are unlikely to be of high quality. Educators will physically not be able to pay attention to everyone. What an individual approach here.
“A large number of children in a group entails building strict discipline, this is inevitable. After all, it is impossible to organize such a crowd of children in another way. And this can negatively affect the psyche of the child, ”explains our expert.
Or the other extreme may turn out – complete connivance with all the ensuing consequences, when children do what they want.
How to
The optimal number of kids in a group is no more than 10 – 15 people. Here and an individual approach, and looking after children is better, and the study is more effective.
For children toys, materials for games, materials for creativity, etc. It is clear that all this is needed a lot. In a bad kindergarten with equipment, there can be a twofold situation. On the one hand, there may be a lot of toys and other materials, but they are all in perfect condition. This suggests that they are in the room just for show, they are not given to children.
“On the other hand, all materials and toys for children may be in a completely deplorable state: broken toys, torn books – all this suggests that the garden is not properly equipped. Well, or that there is no money for this, which is also not very good. Perhaps money will be dragged from you, ”says Pavel Taruntaev.
How to
A good kindergarten has good equipment, but at the same time it is clear that it is actively used, but not “flirted” to the point of rubbish. Minor defects and breakages on toys are completely normal.
3. Time for free play and a walk
In a bad kindergarten, little walks with children, since this is a whole problem for educators – everyone needs to be dressed, taken out, watched over there, and then returned to the kindergarten.
“In a good garden, children should walk a lot, twice a day. In the summer, a morning walk is also added. Of course, all this is not to the detriment of classes, ”says the psychologist.
In a bad kindergarten, there is either too little free play – it is better to keep the children busy so that something does not happen, or, on the contrary, too much, respectively, little is involved with the children and the educational process does not go on.
How to
A good kindergarten strives to find a balance between adequate workload and free time for children. Any bias here is harmful – the child needs to both actively engage and actively play without the instructions of an adult.
4. The attitude of the child to the kindergarten
If a child systematically does not want to go to the garden, this is a good reason to think.
“Here I do not mean cases of adaptation or the return of a child after a long break or even after a weekend,” the psychologist immediately stipulates.
If for a long time the child does not want to go to the kindergarten, feels uncomfortable, withdrawn, changes greatly in behavior (not for the better), then this is a good reason to think: what is happening in the kindergarten? Bad relationship with the caregiver? With kids? And if the staff of the kindergarten is not in a hurry with help and does not try to solve the problem after your appeal, then this is a very sure sign of a bad kindergarten and a signal to look for another institution for the child.
How to
A child goes to a good kindergarten, if not with joy, then without a pronounced dislike. The teacher solves the problems that arise immediately together with the parents.
5. Looking closely at the staff
In a bad kindergarten, they are not very interested in children, parents and their problems.
“If your questions, requests and inquiries remain unaddressed, then it is worth considering whether it is worth continuing to take your child there,” Pavel Taruntaev is sure.
How to
In a good kindergarten, they not only work well with children, but also conduct an active dialogue with parents, try to jointly find solutions to emerging problems and difficulties. If educators and other kindergarten staff are attentive to you and your child, then you can hardly worry about anything.
