Attitudes towards makeup change with fashion. Black arrows and scarlet lips or a natural blush – depends on the images that cosmetics manufacturers impose on us. We asked beauty blogger and Lancôme makeup artist Lisa Eldridge to name 5 reasons to be bolder in your makeup choices.
If you do not have a personal makeup artist, then you are unlikely to spend half an hour every morning on a full-fledged makeup. This is what beauty bloggers are for – they talk not only about trends and new products, but also about tricks and tricks that will help you transform quickly and at minimal cost. Make your eyes bigger or throw off 10 years only with the help of a successful make-up? Easy! Why else is it important not to deny yourself the morning beauty ritual?
1. Bright makeup is no longer considered vulgar.
Many girls are captivated by stereotypes: they say, red lipstick or shimmering eye shadow is defiant. Sometimes this conviction is the result of a puritanical upbringing, or it’s just that neither mom nor grandmother in this family used lipstick without a special reason.
“Before, a girl could really be criticized for too bright makeup. Not now, says Lisa Eldridge. – The Internet has made the most eccentric images familiar, we are no longer surprised by neon shades or men with lipstick on their lips. We see it every day on Instagram. Now bright makeup does not shock anyone.
2. Makeup will change you like a plastic surgeon.
In 2007, Lisa Eldridge was invited to become a makeup artist for the British television project 10 Years Younger. She did makeup for the members, helping them find their new look.
“We had a kind of competition with a plastic surgeon,” recalls Lisa. – The idea was to find out who can create more magic in the transformation of women – him with his scalpel or me with a set of brushes and beauty tips. And as a result, the participants I worked with got more: they remained natural and acquired skills that they could use in the future on their own. The channel’s website was literally inundated with emails with questions for me.”
Viewers learned that, contrary to popular belief that makeup ages, it helps make the face look more youthful and fresh.
3. Making the right choice is not so difficult
Very often, women are afraid that they will not be able to choose the right shade of decorative cosmetics. Suddenly blush does not suit their color type? Will plum lipstick make lips too thin? But Lisa Eldridge believes that there is no need to fill your head with unnecessary rules: “In makeup, you need to trust emotions, and especially when it comes to choosing lipstick. After all, it is she who draws attention to herself in the first place. ”
Makeup is a magical ritual for every woman, a link between generations
I explain to women who ask me how to choose a shade, that you need to focus on your own feelings and mood. There is always a reason why one color attracts you more than another. Apply it and see the effect. Does this lipstick make the face radiant and dynamic? If yes, buy it!
4. Mistakes are easy to fix
“Doing something wrong is normal,” says Lisa. No one will look at your arrows under a microscope. And if the eyeliner line turned out to be completely uneven, it can be erased or shaded.
Think about the result, not about flawless execution. And don’t follow the rules, many of which are outdated. Makeup techniques are constantly evolving. For example, it used to be thought that dark lipstick was not suitable for women with thin lips. But now it is customary to apply it with patting movements for the effect of kissed lips. And this move changes everything.”
5. Makeup is an excuse to spend a few minutes on yourself.
Lisa Eldridge believes that makeup is a magical ritual for every woman, a link between generations. Every woman remembers the lipstick her grandmother used or the trick her mother taught her. It is also a moment to yourself, a time when you can pamper yourself and relax. And with the modern pace of life, it is so important to give yourself at least five minutes a day.
