5 English activities for your kids that you can do on your smartphone

Gadgets are no longer just a toy, but also an independent educational tool. Unlike traditional methods, modern technologies involve the child in learning through interactive game formats. Together with experts from the Skysmart online school for children, we talk about tasks on a smartphone that will help your child learn English while playing.

Does the child not want to part with the smartphone and instead of learning English words, does he play games? Try to use his passion for peaceful purposes – show him how fun and interesting it is to learn a foreign language on the phone.

Make lists and schedules

School, circles, lessons – for children, just like for us adults, it can be difficult to navigate everything that happens in life and not forget anything. Make a to-do list or a daily/weekly schedule with your child in English. Tell us how it happens for you and why you need it: here is my job, household chores, time for my favorite book, and here is the list of products so as not to forget anything.

To prevent your child from falling asleep from boredom, use cool apps for your smartphone or tablet. For example, Trello or Any.Do: they can arrange everything beautifully, structure multi-colored cards by day, and also cross off completed tasks – the most enjoyable part of the process of making lists.

Shoot vlogs

Vlogs or video blogs captured both children and adults: they are interesting not only to watch, but also to shoot. Invite your child to create their own vlog and record short videos in English on simple topics: “my morning”, “my dog”, “walking with friends.

If it is difficult for a child to immediately record a video in English, offer him to prepare the text in advance or shoot a video without sound and then overlay sound on the video. The vlog can be posted on Vkontakte, Instagram or Youtube. Encourage your child not to be shy and share – suddenly friends will join him, and then it will be even more fun!

make collages

Collages are cool and fun! Unlike paper versions, the possibilities of technology are much wider: you can distribute your photos on a virtual canvas, add splashes of paint, frames, stickers, unusual fonts and graphics from ready-made templates, change colors. In general, the field for creativity is simply amazing.

Invite your child to make a collage on a simple topic in English. For example, “my dreams”, “my family”, “leisure-time activities”.

Transform into your favorite characters

Let the child choose a favorite character or superhero and run social networks on his behalf – on a separate page or on his own. Or just sends you photos in private messages.

You can write simple posts in English, dress up and shoot videos and photos in different situations: a superhero saves a kitten, teaches homework, or helps mom water the flowers. Play with your child, give him ideas and support: “Wow, what a great photo! Did you come up with this yourself?”

Arrange challenges

Invite your child to arrange a photo challenge and invite friends. For example, during the week, take photos on a specific topic: my favorite game, my friends, fashion week. The guys can post photos on social networks and come up with their own hashtag or create a general chat for the challenge. Don’t forget the prizes: a little reward at the end of the challenge is always nice.

Playing English with a child is easier than it seems. Use modern technologies for this in a fun and useful way.
