Semen contains 20% sperm and 80% fluid, made by the seminal vesicles and the prostate.

The ejaculated volume is on average 3 to 4 milliliters and contains approximately 100 million sperm per milliliter.

The number of sperm contained in semen is also one of the basic measures of male fertility.
