4 ways to strengthen the retina

The retina is a thin layer of nervous tissue that forms the inner membrane of the eye. It performs an important function in the body: it converts the light that is projected onto it by the lens and cornea. As a result of this process, nerve impulses are formed that are transmitted to the brain.

Thus, the quality of vision depends on the functioning of the retina and its condition, so it is necessary to strengthen it. This is especially important in the development of certain eye diseases. Today, various methods are used to strengthen the retina of the eye.

Laser coagulation

4 ways to strengthen the retina

This method is considered one of the most effective. Strengthening the retina with a laser is used both for serious diseases that can lead to complete loss of vision, and for the prevention of complications. Coagulation is part of the complex treatment for diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension. Most often, laser therapy is used for moderate and high myopia. This method helps to prevent retinal detachment and the progression of pathological changes.

Before the procedure, drops are instilled into the patient’s eyes. Exposure to a laser beam is made through a lens installed on the eye with a reflective coating. Due to the drops, it is possible to touch even hard-to-reach areas. The laser beam penetrates into the eyeball, providing an increase in temperature in certain areas of the retina, resulting in coagulation. This means that the tissues are coagulated and tightly attached to the choroid. During the procedure, the specialist controls the process using a stereomicroscope.

The advantage of laser coagulation is that such an operation does not require additional preparation and does not cause pain to the patient. The procedure usually lasts no more than 20 minutes, general anesthesia is not used. However, there are a number of contraindications for the operation, for example, insufficient visual acuity.

Strengthening the retina with sunlight

Solarization also improves vision. Sunlight helps to strengthen weakened eyes, speed up their metabolism. Improving the functioning of the body is also achieved by increasing blood circulation in it due to solarization. The eyes are sensitive to sunlight. It is no coincidence that a person sees best in good light. Moreover, the weaker the vision, the more sunlight is required. However, in the case of a weakened retina, the eyes react poorly to the quality of lighting. If strengthened with solarization, the ability to see in both strong and weak light will improve.

Influencing the retina in this way should be guided by your own feelings. It is necessary to accustom eyes to the sun gradually. At the initial stages, solarization is carried out with closed eyelids, and at this time the patient is advised to turn his body in different directions. Once your eyes are used to the sunlight, you can alternately lift your eyelids, looking down at the sclera, and blink if necessary. After the retinal strengthening procedure, you need to cover your face with your palms and stay in the dark for a while. If solarization is carried out regularly, the appearance of the eyes will improve: they will stop watering, they will be shiny and radiant.

With insufficiently good lighting, you have to strain your eyesight additionally. Therefore, it is important not only to strengthen the retina with the help of solarization, but also to read and write in bright light, since the poor conditions of any visual work reduce the effectiveness of the procedure.

Gymnastics for the eyes

4 ways to strengthen the retina

Eye muscles, like any other, require training. Regular eye exercises are an opportunity to improve vision and strengthen the retina. Despite the simplicity of the exercises included in it, it gives good results. The main thing is to do gymnastics daily.

Some of the eye exercises come from yoga. So, it is recommended to alternately turn your eyes left and right, and then up and down. You can also look at the tip of the nose or between the eyebrows. But turning your eyes clockwise and in the opposite direction is quite difficult. To begin with, you can do only one such circle, gradually increasing the number of approaches in the exercise. As part of gymnastics to strengthen the retina, it is recommended to look from one object to another, close your eyes, try to “write” a number or letter with your eyes closed.

Before starting to perform these exercises, you need to palming, that is, cover your face with your palms for a while. This simple procedure allows you to achieve complete relaxation of the eyes.

The role of nutrition in strengthening the retina

Solarization, laser therapy, gymnastics – all these means can improve vision, but you need to monitor the health of the whole organism as a whole.

In particular, to strengthen the retina, it is necessary to adhere to a balanced diet, which ensures the supply of vitamins and elements:

  • Blueberry. You should include blueberries in your diet. This berry is considered one of the most effective prophylactic agents for preventing cataracts and glaucoma. It protects retinal cells from age-related and physiological changes. This is possible due to the anthocyanidins contained in the berries. Blueberries relieve eye fatigue and allow you to see better in low light. It contains antioxidants that strengthen retinal capillaries. They also play an important role in preventing or treating macular degeneration.

  • Omega 3. Omega-3 fatty acids are good for eye health. This is due to the fact that the retina contains docosahexaenoic acid. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in large quantities in fish. Based on experiments, it has been proven that patients who use it several times a week are less likely to experience the problem of visual impairment. You can make up for the lack of fatty acids with the help of nuts, olive oil.

  • ginkgo biloba. Helps to get rid of free radicals in the retina, and therefore strengthen it with ginkgo biloba. taking this drug 2 times a day can increase visual acuity and improve its quality, increase blood circulation in the optic nerve.

  • Vitamin A. Vitamin A, which is one of the elements of the visual pigment of the retina, is also important for eye health. It is found in large quantities in red palm oil – 5 mg in 1 teaspoon. The source of vitamin A is also sorrel, carrots, fish oil.

Vitamin V2

Protects the retina from excess ultraviolet rays visual purple. Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) is required for its secretion. It enters the body from milk, eggs, meat, liver, cereals. Even after heat treatment, riboflavin is retained in these products. It is possible to determine the lack of this vitamin in the body by the deterioration of vision, peeling of the skin, the appearance of cracks on the lips. In most cases, this is due to the lack of animal products in the diet. To make up for the lack of riboflavin, it is taken in the form of a pharmacy preparation of vitamin B2.

The problem of a lack of this element is most often faced by people whose diet is dominated by sweet and starchy foods: white bread, confectionery, chocolate. Such foods are a source of simple carbohydrates, which leads to an increased need for vitamin B2. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the number of consumed products made from fine flour, sweets and sugar. This is especially important in autumn and winter, when the body is experiencing an acute lack of vitamins.

Useful substances and trace elements, including vitamin B2, will be better absorbed if the intestinal microflora is normalized. This is facilitated by the use of fermented milk products: activation, bio-kefir. They also have a positive effect on the synthesis of B vitamins by the body. In order to normalize the microflora, they drink bifidumbacterin in courses.

Since vitamin B2 is found in many foods, it is recommended to have oatmeal or buckwheat porridge for breakfast, as well as eat one egg daily. The liver stewed in sour cream with carrots will be useful. It is recommended to eat it at least 2 times a week.
