4 typical malfunctions of MAUNFELD dishwashers + error codes

What do MAUNFELD dishwasher errors say? The codes indicate a failure in the technology system. To restore the dishwasher, you will have to decipher the meaning of the error and try to fix the problem. If you are not a service center master, then study the repair recommendations that will help you deal with the problem yourself.

How are Mounfield fault codes deciphered?

It is not for nothing that each PMM model comes with an instruction manual. The manufacturer indicates how to properly handle the equipment, make the connection, and also respond to possible breakdown codes. If your manual is lost, then we will show you how to understand the meaning of the symbols on the display.

So, your dishwasher stopped and gave out a combination of letters and numbers on the screen. Additionally, the indicators on the panel may flash. What does this mean:

  • E1. Additionally, indicators may flash for no reason. The meaning of the symbols is as follows: water is not taken into the bunker. It is worth checking the inlet valve and the presence of water supply. Perhaps there is a weak pressure in the system, or there is a blockage.
  • E3. The machine cannot reach the temperature set by the program. There is a problem with the heating element or temperature sensor.
  • E4. At the same time, the ECO mode blinks. What does it mean? There was an overflow and the dishwasher leaked. The problem is the incorrect operation of the pressure switch, a large amount of detergent.
  • Ed. Lost communication with main control module and thin film resistor unit. The reason is a broken spring, or problems in the network.

What if the code on the scoreboard is displayed for the first time? The degree of complexity of the problem will help to find out the reboot. If the characters disappear from the display, then everything worked out and it’s a system failure. And if not, then eliminate the cause of the breakdown.

Here’s how to restart PMM:

  • Unplug the dishwasher from the socket.
  • Wait 10-15 minutes.
  • Plug in the mains.

Now watch the display. And it’s even good if a code appears during a malfunction. But what to do when it is not there, and the machine does not think to work? Then look for signs of damage.

Causes of breakdowns of the Maunfield dishwasher

The causes that provoke problems are not always fully listed in the fault codes. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the behavior of the dishwasher. If you wish, you can repair the equipment yourself.

Here are the warning signs:

  • PMM does not turn on. The problem could be a power supply, a tripped emergency switch, or a blown fuse.
  • The machine does not start. The point is low water pressure or a loosely closed dishwasher door.
  • Waste fluid does not drain from the hopper. Probably, the drain hose was bent, the drain filter was clogged, the drain in the kitchen was clogged.
  • Too much foam in the chamber, leakage occurs. The point is the wrong selection of detergents, spilled rinse aid.

Foam in the bunker

  • Knocking in the washing chamber. Incorrectly spaced dishes interfere with the rotation of the impeller, which sprays water.
  • Noise during washing. Appliances are loose or touch each other.
  • Poor wash quality, which includes dirt residue on dishes, sediment on glasses, poor rinsing of detergent. The point is the incorrect loading of devices, an incorrectly selected program. Possibly, there was not enough detergent added or the nozzles are blocked.

It is not always a matter of malfunction, sometimes it is enough to change the usual methods of operating the PMM. But if repair is still necessary, then we will analyze in more detail how to do it yourself. But first, we describe in which cases disassembly is not required:

  1. Water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher. This is normal. Clean water in the pan prevents the rubber seals from drying out and losing their tightness.
  2. Steam comes out of the chamber. This means that the technique has moved on to draining the liquid or drying the dishes. The machine is operating normally.
  3. The dispenser lid does not close. Set the knob to the “Off” position. and slide the door latch to the left.

Now let’s move on to more serious problems with the MAUNFELD PMM.

Overflow and leakage

Accidentally spilled rinse aid or excess powder in the chamber leads to the formation of a large amount of foam. As a result, it fills all the connectors, which leads to a leak. Start the drain mode, and then turn on the idle rinse until the water stops foaming.

Use only special products for PMM, which prevent foaming.

Do not start a wash cycle if you notice spilled rinse aid. Remove it with a sponge and only then select the program.

When overflowing, water can also flow onto the floor.

Attention! In case of leakage, close the inlet valve. Before starting, wipe off the water that has accumulated around the machine.

But the cause of the problem is faulty parts. It’s either an intake valve or a level sensor. In the first case, the valve flap does not work, so the flow of water enters the hopper unhindered. Only replacing the part will solve the problem. For this:

  • Disconnect the fill hose from the housing.

Disconnecting a hose with a valve

  • Next to it is a valve.
  • Turn off his contacts.
  • Twist the mounting bolts.

This is what the intake valve looks like

Remove the old part and install the new one. Only buy original components, because they last longer than cheaper, but not native counterparts.

A level sensor or pressure switch measures the amount of water in the tank. A special tube reacts to an increase or decrease in pressure, after which the sensor contacts switch. These signals are picked up by the main module and give a signal to stop sampling. In the event of a pressure switch failure or its incorrect operation, an overflow occurs.

How to fix the situation:

  • Disconnect equipment from communications.
  • Turn over to the side.
  • Dismantle the bottom. If a float sensor is attached to it, disconnect the contacts.
  • Find the plastic reservoir that the tube comes from.
  • Disconnect the tube and wires, unscrew the fasteners and remove the pressure switch.

Install replacement in reverse order.

Dishwasher won’t turn on or start

If the machine does not respond to key presses, the indicators are off, then check if it is connected to the network. Sometimes this happens too. Also inspect the plug and socket for integrity. Check if the emergency switch has tripped. Everything is working? Then dismantle the control panel to inspect the contacts of the power button.

What do we have to do:

  • Disconnect the PMM from the power supply.
  • Open the door and remove the screws around the perimeter.

This is how the fastening screws are unscrewed

  • Separate the two halves of the door, unfasten the control panel.

You can clean the contacts yourself or contact the master. Worse if the breakdown is hidden in the control module. This node will either have to be changed or reflashed at a service center.

Why is the technology not working? That is, it turns on, but the program does not start. It is possible that there is low pressure in the water supply, or the tank door is not closed properly. Press it tighter, inspect the seal, correct placement of devices. Nothing should interfere with the normal fit of the door.

Water does not drain

The wash is over, but the machine has stopped in the drain phase. We will analyze in more detail the reasons and options for establishing work. The first and main problem is blockage. Do this:

  • Remove the baskets from the bin.
  • Remove the filter and metal mesh from the pan. These parts are most often clogged with food debris and grease. Rinse them under the tap; for difficult dirt, use citric acid or soda.

Part location

  • Remove water from the filter opening. Pull the pump cover and remove.

Deeper in the hole is the impeller

  • Put on gloves and feel the impeller. Sometimes its rotation is blocked by bones, napkins, glass fragments and other objects.

A visual process is shown in the video:

Holes and parts are cleaned, it’s time to check the kitchen drain. If the machine is connected to a siphon, then inspect and clean the cavities. If to the sewer, then you can contact the plumber. Another cause of the problem is the pump. When broken, it stops pumping water. Here’s how to do the replacement:

  • After disconnecting communications and removing the filter, turn the PMM on its side.
  • Remove the bottom (do not damage the Aquastop sensor).

The location of the nodes under the bottom cover

  • The pump is located next to the heating element.
  • Disconnect all hoses leading to it, as well as wiring.

Disconnecting the wiring from the pump

  • Turn the assembly counterclockwise, remove.

Installation is carried out upside-down.

Take pictures of contacts and connections, so it will be easier to restore the correct location.

In the future, thoroughly cleaning the dishes from food debris will help to avoid clogging. Use programs with high temperature for fatty dishes, do not forget to fill the reservoir with salt.

Knocking and rattling during washing

Knocking and rattling may occur if the dishes are not properly placed in the chamber. See if the sprinkler hits the plate. This not only increases the noise, but also reduces the quality of the wash. Also, the devices should not be loose or too close to each other. There is a place for every plate and cup. Here are the basic placement rules:

  • All items must be stable, for this there are special grids and holders.
  • Place glasses and cups upside down, and curved plates at an angle so that water drains better.
  • Place large cutlery, pots and pans in the lower basket.

An example of loading is shown in the video:

The same recommendations apply for poor removal of contaminants. If food remains, white stains or spots remain on the surfaces, then:

  • Clean the drain filter.
  • Pour salt into the reservoir.
  • Select intensive mode.

For any questions, please refer to the instruction manual. Clean the filters at least once a month, then you can avoid serious damage.
