Eyeliner is the main technique that allows you to emphasize the eyes and make them brighter and more expressive! It’s no secret that different types of arrows are suitable for different eye shapes.
Let’s get into the basics:
almond-shaped – absolutely any type of arrows will do;
the round and convex shape of the eyes can be perfectly adjusted using the arrows. The main thing is to draw the upper and lower eyelids and connect in the outer corner of the eye. This method will help to visually give the eye a more almond-shaped shape;
oriental type – thin arrows are ideal. The tip of the line needs to be slightly raised up, but at the same time only slightly go beyond the borders of the outer corner;
if you have a heavy eyelid or the outer corners of your eyes are down, a thin arrow is suitable for you;
you can visually enlarge small eyes using a light-colored eyeliner with an elongated tip.
But there are also options for arrows that everyone should be able to do.
1. Classic arrow – a thin line of eyeliner that increases in width from the inner corner of the eye to the outer one. The most important part of a classic arrow is definitely the tail! Its direction should be towards the temple or the upper edge of the ear. It is better to avoid the roundness of the ponytail, as it can create a retro-style mood. Variant of the classic arrow: we allow options in different colors – green, blue, purple, etc. The main thing here is to emphasize the color of the eyes!
2. Broad arrow suits everyone, but keep in mind that this is an evening make-up option or for a special event. It is based on the classic arrow. The ideal tool is a marker. It’s important to stick to the schedule, and a little preparation will help here. If your hand feels shaky, practice on paper. Draw several lines on a flat surface and expand the line each time. Then transfer your confident hand movement to your eyes! You will see the process will go faster and more professional. Remember, the width of the arrow here should be half the length of the tail.
3. Half arrows – a rescue view in case of a catastrophic lack of time. Draw them quickly and any eyeliner will do (see below). With an open eye, mark the beginning: the reference point is the middle or edge of the pupil. Mark the tail with a stroke and then connect the beginning and end of the arrow. Don’t forget to draw the space between the lashes. This is especially true with a half arrow.
4. Upper and lower eyeliner! When you are not a make-up guru at all, but you want to look fashionable, then this particular eyeliner option will come to the rescue. Using a pencil, draw in the eyelash edge of the upper and lower eyelids (only eyelash!) And thickly paint over the eyelashes with mascara. Simple and effective! For the daytime version, brown is suitable, and for the evening version – black!
Well, if you want something very fashionable, then stop at the classic arrow, double it in width, and draw small dots on the lower eyelid under the eyelashes. It will give the mood of the 60s, which are so fashionable in makeup now! Think Twiggy and add thick lashes to this look! Looking for even more inspiration? Liner options
Pencil eyeliner is currently very popular and easy to apply. A huge variety of different textures allows you to make a choice to achieve the desired effect. For example, long-lasting pencils will sharpen the line, and the kayal texture will blend into a soft line.
Liquid, cream, gel, and eyeliners are considered the most difficult and require constant practice. But they provide the most expressive and lasting result.
Eyeliner can also be done with shadows. Here you will need a thin brush and compact matte shadows. Wet application is quick and easy!
Application tips
– Do not leave gaps in the space between the lashes. It can be noticeable. If this does happen, finish with a brush and shadows with neat strokes. You will immediately see how your look will change.
– Ditch the lower eyeliner if you have problems with dark circles / bags under the eyes. The eyeliner will enhance and focus additional attention on them.
– In the inner corner of the eye, the line of the eyeliner should be thinner than in the outer. This trick will accentuate the shape of the eyes and make them look more almond-shaped.
– To make it easier to work with the pencil, draw some lines on the hand to soften the lead.
