4 ideas to promote your restaurant

Managing your restaurant can be complicated, no longer adding the marketing work.

Many do not like these tasks, maybe you are one of those restaurant owners who delegate marketing to someone else.

But that does not imply that you should ignore: your restaurant is your passion, and you must promote it so that it reaches more people and attract more customers.

The trick to promoting a restaurant is not to constantly try new and sophisticated marketing techniques, but to build a promotion strategy that is easy to implement, measure and explain to your customers.

Here are some ideas to promote your business that will cost you nothing.

1. Create a social media campaign

This growth hack is taking the power of social media to the next level. The secret is in the taking advantage of the vanity and curiosity of your customers.

What we are talking about is not the “retweet this to earn X” approach (does that really work?), But rather the act of giving user A an ability to share, while growing exponentially through the list of friends of user A to reach user B, C, D and Z.

An example of this growth hack is best shown through the Facebook portal, where users are constantly being asked to share their scores for different games.

This creates vanity (look what I got, what you got) and curiosity (what is it you share?) Simultaneously.

For example, having one week a year a game or an app in which any customer can throw the tomatoes closest to a goal (if you are an Italian restaurant) and whoever gets it right, will have their free dinner, no matter how many were in the desk.

Think of how you can apply this: create vanity and curiosity about your restaurant. You don’t have to be messy and you don’t have to be overly calculated. The key to success is creativity.

2. Do something viral

Do you know what the virality? Is something that emerges and is shared quickly and constantly over the internet, there are virals in almost all social networks, and it is basically “Look at this, it’s very cool.”

Some businesses that have applied it have been able to reach more than 10.000 people in 2 days.

How can this be applied? Think about implementing this concept your way. For example, have customers (as nicely as possible) invite two friends to get their free meal.

This is a very vague example. We’re not going around the actual growth examples you can use, but we’re trying to brainstorm some rough starting points so you understand what we’re saying.

It could even be just a recipe of yours, or a video of you cooking something exotic doing it the easy way, like Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay.

3. Try to appear in the press

Your market is practically local, and for that reason you must promote your restaurant through association with journalists and local publications to spread the word, and you do not have the protagonist of the message you want to convey.

Just do something that people find interesting or novel.

For example: if your restaurant is Italian, you can partner with a travel agency and talk about the most iconic places to visit when we travel to Italy, and / or what tomatoes are like in each Italian city, and little by little mention and position your restaurant.

It doesn’t have to be about your niche, it can be something that brings together other types of niches not related to restoration or your style of food and create something bigger as a whole. For example: tour the gastronomy of the world at the Expo “GastroMadrid”And brings all your meals together in one place.

In this way you can appear in the local press as the organizer or sponsor of the event and reach more people than you could have reached through advertising of any kind.

4. Create a memorable slogan

A slogan is a phrase that summarizes and defines who you are and what you do. Nike, the legendary sports shoe brand has the “Just do it”(Just do it), Telepizza has its famous “The secret is in the dough”.

Try to come up with a clever, defining, catchy phrase.

Put it at the end of your purchase receipts and if you deliver at home, in the boxes or bags where you deliver your food.

This will help you create a phrase that identifies you and that works as a signature of your business.

To finish: create your promotion techniques

You, your restaurant, and your guests are different from any other, and what works for another business may not work for you.

We could talk for hours about promotion techniques for your restaurant and success stories, but that is not the goal.

This is just a starting point for you to create your own promotional technique and strategy so that your restaurant reaches more people and attract more and more diners.

As I said above: the key to the success of a business is in creativity. Use it and don’t get tired of trying things.
