By donating blood, we can help many people. Indeed, a million patients are treated each year thanks to this act of solidarity.

Blood donation is essential in many situations. We can distinguish :

• emergency situations (road accident victims, women having a difficult delivery, haemorrhages during surgical operations, etc.) which may require the provision of large volumes of blood products;
• needs outside of emergencies, in particular for patients suffering from a blood disease such as sickle cell disease who require regular blood donations throughout their life, or in the event of serious illnesses such as cancer.
