3D printers arrive at Restaurants

A futuristic fashion that little by little we will see how it adapts to different culinary concepts.

It is no longer science fiction, the first restaurant in the world that produces using 3D printing already exists and not only that, its exclusivity is on par with the novelty of its recipes.

At Shoreditch in the London Borough of Hackney, it opened its doors to only a select group of customers, for three consecutive nights last July.

The reason for such a novel opening is the presentation of Food Ink, (Pin It Save Food) which consists of a special composition supplied by a machine that acts as a 3D printer and creates edible shapes or decorations.

Diners who attended the exclusive opening event were able to enjoy nine dishes prepared by the chefs Joel Castanyé and Mateu Blanch, and with the characteristic that they were produced in 3D and in real time, being able to be witnessed by the eyes of the clients.

From a delicious hummus, a chocolate mousse, some smashed peas, a goat cheese or a pizza dough, to anything that can take the form of a pasta, they have been the stridencies but also delicious edible forms that have been seen by first time the light in what has been called the first 3D printing restaurant in the world.

Food, plates, glasses and even printed cutlery

It is an authentic interactive experience, where everything that surrounds the moment from the furniture to the food has been printed.

The best thing is that the impression is made live and at the moment being able to be a participant in the creation and experience an authentic or exclusive new way of understanding leisure and restoration.

It is the first and innovative 3D-Printing Restaurant, which does the best chef’s work when creating appetizers, desserts and, above all, unification in the assembly of dishes.

The manufacturer of this portable and autonomous chef is the Dutch company ByFlow, which apart from covering the facets of a cook, also acts as a cabinetmaker and glazier …

Thus, the tables, chairs and lamps that surround the diners can be printed by these incredible machines, and not everything is there, because the glasses, plates and cutlery are also meticulously carved by these creators of homemade tools.

In the opening ceremony, the cutlery that served to taste the dishes prepared by the Autonomous Chef, they were also printed and designed by Polish artist Iwona Lisiecka.

This is the first time in the world that technology, food, and design form a common and unique front to develop not food or utensils, but a unique and especially futuristic complete experience.

We hope that soon we can see it and try it in other cities of the world and especially in our country to participate in that unique moment between restaurant and diner, which will surely be improved little by little with augmented reality to complete a interactive edible experience.
