How to find the filter in the Ariston washing machine?
One of the regular types of maintenance is cleaning the drain filter in the washer. When loading things, small items forgotten in pockets, garbage, hair and pile get into the drum. All this, together with the waste water, passes through the filter (some is retained by the protective mesh), then it enters the pump and goes through the drain hose into the sewer.
Timely cleaning of the drain elements ensures the normal outflow of water and the efficient operation of the equipment. Where is the filter located? In Ariston brand washing machines, the part is located behind a long plinth door under the loading hatch. Open it and start removing the blockage.
Cleaning the filter in SMA “Ariston”
Start with prep work. You will need:
- flat container;
- rag;
- screwdriver.
Take care of safety and disconnect the machine from electricity. Also close the inlet cocks in case you have to move or tilt the housing. Then follow the instructions:
- Press lightly and lift the false panel out of place. If the cover does not fit, pry the latches with a slotted screwdriver.
- Tilt the CMA body back and lean against the wall.
- Substitute a container under the bottom or lay something unnecessary on the floor – an old towel, a rag.
- Grab the filter handle with your hand and slowly turn it to the left.
- Take the item out of the case. Be careful, water will pour out immediately.
Now you can remove large blockages from the mesh and rinse the element under running water with a sponge. With strong plaque and mold, use citric acid. You can also soak the parts in warm water with lemon.
Important! Do not wash the filter in hot water. This will damage the plastic and render the part unusable.
Also check the inlet for debris, wipe with a rag from plaque. Then check the pump impeller. To do this, look into the hole. Sometimes hair and threads are wound around the impeller, which can soon block the drain. Remove all foreign objects.
Replace the filter after cleaning. Make sure that the element fits exactly along the thread, without distortions. Otherwise, there may be leakage during washing. Run a test rinse without laundry and make sure there are no leaks from the bottom.

Leak after cleaning

- The filter is loosely or crookedly tightened along the thread. Place a rag, unscrew the parts and screw them back in. Tighten tighter, but don’t strip the threads.
- Gasket damaged. Around the element is a rubber gasket that seals the hole. If it is damaged, install a new one or replace the entire structure.

Why is it important to clean the filter?

The filter is not pulled out: what to do?
Sometimes the element becomes so clogged and covered with scale that it refuses to leave the nest. Perhaps the part turns a little or does not lend itself to effort at all. Try to rotate the element using pliers. Just be careful not to damage the fragile plastic.
Tap on the case near the filter to move the stuck object out of place. Nothing helps? Then you have to dismantle the pump. Fortunately, the node is located right under the bottom of the washer. In Ariston machines, the bottom is either absent or easily removed.
After dismantling, all elements are cleaned and installed in place. In severe cases, it is necessary to replace the filter along with the pump volute.
