1. Preventive or curative use of essential oil of officinal lavender

The essential oil of officinal lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has been used for many years in the fight against lice invasions. Behind its sweet and bewitching scent, this essential oil indeed hides a formidable effectiveness. It can be used in prevention as well as in shock treatment! In addition to its anti-lice action, this essential oil has many other benefits and uses. It has antispasmodic, soothing, healing, purifying or even regenerating properties. It is one of the essential essential oils in the natural care kit. In practice: As a prevention, daily apply 2 drops of essential oil of officinal lavender behind the ears and on the neck. If the scalp is already infested with lice, you can create a pre-shampoo mask by mixing, for example, a few drops of essential oil in 50 mL of olive oil.

2. Applying coconut oil to scalp and hair

Coconut oil can be used as soon as lice appear on the scalp. This vegetable oil is obtained from the pulp of the coconut palm Cocos nucifera, a species native to the Pacific Islands. Coconut oil has the particularity of being rich in saturated fatty acids, and of having a very thick and viscous texture. Applied to the scalp and hair, it suffocates lice and thus prevents their proliferation. In addition to being a valuable ally in getting rid of lice, coconut oil has benefits for the health and beauty of the hair. It nourishes the hair in depth, makes them denser and gives them a beautiful shine. We can also mention another advantage of coconut oil: its delicate smell reminiscent of summer! In practice: In case of suspicion of lice, it is better to act quickly to avoid their development. Apply coconut oil on the scalp and lengths while massaging. Make sure you apply the oil all over the hair.

3. Natural anti-lice treatment thanks to the essential oil of the tea tree

If lice are already well established on the scalp, tea tree essential oil can be a great natural treatment. A short presentation is a must. The tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), or tea tree, is a small tree native to Australia. It should not be confused with the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) which is used to make tea. The tea tree is said to have been named so by Captain James Cook and his crew when they discovered Australian lands. They wanted to brew tea and used the leaves of the tea tree as a substitute. Today, the leaves of the tea tree are especially popular for developing an essential oil with a high content of active ingredients. These natural compounds have different antiviral, antibacterial, fungicidal, anti-infectious, toning, healing or even immunostimulating properties. Applied to the hair, tea tree essential oil is effective in getting rid of lice and nits. In practice: Before being used, the essential oil of tea tree must be diluted in a vegetable oil. Mix for example a few drops of essential oil in 50 mL of olive oil. Apply this mixture to the scalp and lengths, massage and leave on for several hours. Then wash the hair with a mild shampoo and then use an anti-lice comb to remove dead lice.
