What happens to the baby at 25 weeks
At the beginning of the third trimester, the baby begins to actively gain weight and master the space around him.
– By this time, the child fills all the free space of the uterus, he is active and his movements are well felt. Sometimes the movements intensify closer to the night, preventing mom from falling asleep. The child’s sleep and wakefulness regime begins to gradually develop, the so-called biological clock is set, and mothers begin to notice this, explains obstetrician-gynecologist Larisa Sharafutdinova.
In the body of the crumbs, too, there is an active work. The skin of the baby brightens, a fatty layer is formed, thanks to which the wrinkles on the body are smoothed out and the shapes are rounded.
– The lungs continue to form, the structures of the central nervous system mature, convolutions and furrows form in the brain. The formation of the skeletal system ends, then the bones begin to harden, accumulating calcium, the doctor says.
Thanks to the developed sense organs, the baby is able to distinguish sounds and respond to them, for example, he can already recognize his mother’s voice.
– The child begins to suck his finger and pull the umbilical cord – a grasping and sucking reflex is formed. Eyelashes appear in front of the eyes, and the nails become a little longer, the gynecologist clarifies.
Watch the movements of the baby inside the abdomen. Soon you will surely notice that he hiccups, and it does not look like jerks at all.
Fetal ultrasound
– Ultrasound of the fetus at the 25th week of pregnancy from conception, as a rule, is not performed. But if there is evidence, the doctor prescribes an additional examination, – explains obstetrician-gynecologist Larisa Sharafutdinova.
Indications can be, for example, various complaints of the expectant mother: abdominal pain, discharge from the genital tract with an admixture of blood, a long absence of movements in the abdomen.
In addition, an ultrasound at 25 weeks of gestation may be indicated for those who are carrying more than one child, mothers with suspected isthmic-cervical insufficiency and signs of other possible problems.
Photo life
The growth of the baby by the 25th week is about 34-36 cm, and the weight is approaching a kilogram. The fruit is about the size of a cauliflower. Further, the child will begin to actively stock up on subcutaneous fat, which means it will become harder and harder, this will certainly affect the mother’s figure.
Photos of the abdomen at the 25th week of pregnancy clearly show how the shapes are rounded even in chubby girls. There is no need to worry about weight gain if, for medical reasons, everything is within the normal range. Most of the extra kilos are amniotic fluid, placenta and blood.
What happens to mom at 25 weeks
By week 25, many mothers note that their breasts have become much larger than before. If the average breast weight in non-pregnant women is approximately 200 grams, then in pregnant women it reaches 780 grams.
In some cases, women begin to notice that colostrum is secreted from the breast. No need to try to squeeze it out, it’s better to just wipe it with a napkin. In the future, this will be your baby’s first food until the mother has milk.
In late pregnancy, the level of cholesterol in the blood of pregnant women can rise, it is needed for the placenta, so this is normal.
Pressure may also rise, but this indicator must be monitored especially carefully. An increase in pressure can serve as a symptom of preeclampsia, as well as the appearance of protein in the urine. Preeclampsia is dangerous for a child. With it, blood flow in the placenta is difficult, and the child does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients. In the worst case scenario, this can lead to the death of the baby.
Some expectant mothers face another nuisance – urinary incontinence. Everyone knows that during pregnancy you constantly want a little, but they don’t remember so often about the involuntary administration of needs, but it happens if the ligaments and muscles of the perineum partially lose their tone and do not close the bladder tightly enough.
To reduce the discomfort associated with the weakening of the ligaments, sign up for a pool. But do not allow strong loads, the ligaments should not stretch sharply.
What sensations can you experience in 25 week
– During this period of pregnancy, it becomes more difficult for a woman to move around and perform normal work. Back pains begin to bother. Pain is caused by the fact that the growing uterus displaces organs and puts pressure on the sciatic nerve, so from time to time a woman needs to change her body position, explains obstetrician-gynecologist Larisa Sharafutdinova.
Some women note that they want to go to the toilet much more often, that there are pains in the legs and cramps associated with micronutrient deficiencies. Many of these problems can be solved with the help of massage, swimming pool and special gymnastics.
To prevent cramps, you need to do a few simple stretching exercises at night and find a comfortable position for sleeping. Cramps may indicate that most of the calcium from food goes to the baby’s bones. Your doctor may prescribe calcium supplements for you.
– If the child lies head down in the stomach, then it’s time to get a bandage. They select it individually in a pharmacy, in accordance with the size of the abdomen, – warns doctor Larisa Sharafutdinova.
At the 25th week of pregnancy, a woman may normally experience vaginal discharge – mucous or whitish in color, odorless.
Monthly
Any gynecologist will tell you that at the 25th week of pregnancy from the conception of bloody discharge from the genital tract should not be. If they are, you need to discuss with your doctor the possible reason for their appearance. They can be quite harmless, for example, the walls of the vagina and cervix become too sensitive and are easily injured during sex.
However, there is a risk of more serious problems, up to placental abruption and premature birth.
Stomach ache
Pain in the abdomen, too, should not be normal, but it all depends on the initial state of the woman’s health. In some cases, abdominal pain is caused by pregnancy, but not directly related to it, for example, pain in the stomach or intestines, kidney problems, exacerbation of appendicitis. All these problems need medical supervision, as they can complicate the course of pregnancy.
Sometimes abdominal pain is a variant of the norm, but only if it is an unpleasant sensation during training ligaments. They do not occur in everyone, and if they do, it is usually closer to 28-30 weeks from conception.
Such pains are similar to menstrual pains, they are characterized by tension in the lower abdomen, a feeling that the stomach is “hardening”. This is a signal that the uterus is preparing for childbirth, toning up and relaxing.
How to distinguish training contractions from real ones:
- the first irregular, short, rather weak;
- with them, sensations do not increase (in childbirth, sensations increase);
- they can disappear during rest, change of position, or, conversely, during activity.
Brown discharge
Any discharge other than the usual – whitish, odorless – deserves to be told to the doctor as soon as possible. Brownish discharge means that they contain particles of clotted blood, which has nowhere to come from during a normal pregnancy.
With such secretions, the woman should be sent to the hospital for examination and ultrasound in order to exclude possible risks of premature birth, as well as to find the source of blood and stop its release.
Popular questions and answers
Is pregnancy with ureaplasma dangerous?
• miscarriage;
• primary and secondary placental insufficiency;
• delayed fetal development;
• intrauterine infection;
• pneumonia in a newborn.
Ureaplasma can cause chronic endometritis, which can eventually lead to habitual miscarriage and, in the worst case, to infertility.
Ureaplasma during pregnancy is diagnosed in the same way as in normal cases: – PCR; – bakposev; – detection of antibodies to the pathogen.
Medicines for the treatment of ureaplasma during pregnancy are selected by the attending physician based on the stage of the disease, general well-being and individual characteristics and duration of pregnancy.
I have an ovarian cyst, can it affect my pregnancy?
The so-called follicular, retention cysts, cyst of the corpus luteum most often do not pose a danger both during pregnancy and outside it, if they do not grow very large.
Another thing is cystoma. This is a tumor, the wall of which consists of several layers, and the contents can be completely different. There are many types of ovarian cysts and they behave differently: some are harmless, others may enlarge during pregnancy, and still others may become cancerous. In order not to create a risk for yourself and the baby, it is best to make sure that you do not have any ovarian formations even before pregnancy. To do this, it is enough to do an ultrasound of the pelvic organs. If a mass is identified, discuss treatment options with your doctor.
Can antidepressants be taken during pregnancy?
Is it possible to have sex?
This is normal, because pregnancy causes the strongest hormonal changes in the body and it manifests itself differently in everyone. For some, desire fades, while for others, on the contrary, it flares up. Many during this period experience very strong sensations, with or without a partner, because the blood flow in the pelvis increases.
Uterine contractions that occur during orgasm are not dangerous for the unborn child. Moreover, orgasm is useful: it brings positive emotions, relieves nervous tension, promotes blood flow to the uterus, which improves the process of feeding the fetus, and relaxes the woman.
Naturally, there are contraindications for sex during pregnancy, so it is better to get permission for pleasure from your doctor.
What to do if the temperature rises?
Treatment should be started immediately, at the first signs of the disease, even if there are doubts “Is it a cold?”. Postponing treatment measures, we give more chances for the disease to clear up.
For the treatment of runny nose and congestion – rinse the nose with salt water. To treat the throat, we make a warm compress on the neck, gargle with decoctions of chamomile, sage or calendula.
Be sure to drink plenty of water. We add foods containing vitamin C to the diet. If the temperature is about +37,5, do not try to bring it down with medicines, it should go away on its own in a couple of days. You can not take antibiotics, potent antipyretics and rapid-acting antiviral drugs.
If you feel that a cold is gaining momentum, call your doctor at home. It is best to do this as soon as you notice the temperature.
What to do if it pulls the lower abdomen?
Follow your feelings, if the pulling pain occurs after exertion and disappears after rest, then there is no reason for concern. If the discomfort does not subside, but only increases, call an ambulance, you should not leave the pain unattended.
How to eat right?
Protein is the building block for your baby and its deficiency often causes various pregnancy complications. In the blood, protein should be contained in an amount of at least 70 g / l. Women can find out their protein level by taking a blood biochemistry test.
– The diet of a pregnant woman should consist of meat, eggs, fish, cottage cheese, cheese, vegetables. You should drink clean non-carbonated water in a volume of 1,5 liters per day. You can use cereals and low-fat broths. Easily digestible carbohydrates, sweets, store-bought juices, salty, smoked foods should be excluded from the diet, the doctor advises.
It is best to eat small meals 5-6 times a day and keep a close eye on the regimen. “Eat not for two, but for two!” is the motto of a pregnant woman.
– A woman can still be disturbed by disorders in the gastrointestinal tract: constipation, heartburn, intestinal spasms. In this case, fiber must be added to the diet. If the weight gain was more than 500 grams per week, then this is quite likely preeclampsia (a complication of pregnancy, in this case in the form of edema), then a doctor’s supervision is necessary, the gynecologist explains.
