Vegetables and fruits – all year round – the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) proposes to be guided by such a motto in nutrition, according to news.un.org. So, 2021 was declared the year of fruits and vegetables. It will focus on disseminating nutritional information and promoting healthy lifestyles.
This is especially important against the background of the rapid growth of the world’s population. FAO experts emphasize the need to use all available food resources, and they consider vegetables and fruits to be key.
Vegetables, fruits and their canned foods such as juices should be present in our diet every day. Not only do they provide health benefits – their cultivation provides jobs for millions of farmers around the world and the livelihoods of their families. These two messages are included in the current UN policy.
Over the next 12 months, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will encourage national governments to inform about diets that include fruits and vegetables. The Year of Fruits and Vegetables will also be an occasion to raise other important topics: sustainable agricultural production, reducing losses, as well as supporting farmers from developing countries.
Be healthy!
We will remind, earlier we told what vegetables we neglect completely in vain, and also advised how to eat fruits correctly.
