The South Korean manufacturer of electronic equipment Samsung presented its new products with support for the Smart Home system, which it presented at the international forum Samsung Forum 2019 in Antalya.
The third generation Side-by-Side refrigerator Family Hub 3.0, which won the CES Best of Innovation award, differs from its “predecessors” primarily in its interface.
The navigation bar and app menu in the fridge echo the Samsung Experience skin the brand has used on its smartphones in the past. That is, through Family Hub 3.0, you can launch a browser, use the calendar, widgets, notes, and other third-party programs.
The new model, as well as the previous versions of this “family” of refrigerators, is connected to the SmartThings service. This means that the user, through Family Hub 3.0, can launch and control other smart appliances in the house, for example, turn on the air conditioner or continue watching your favorite movie on the 21,5-inch refrigerator screen.
Thanks to the built-in video cameras, you can easily monitor the contents of the refrigerator remotely via a mobile application or directly using the touch screen.
In terms of operating times, the Family Hub 3.0 uses two cooling methods: Metal Cooling and Twin Cooling. The first provides a quick restoration of the optimal temperature throughout the refrigerator, the second provides for maintaining a separate temperature in each individual chamber of the device. And the refrigerator owes its silent operation to a digital inverter compressor.
The main highlight in Samsung’s new QDrive washing machines is the Bixby smart assistant, which is used in almost all of the brand’s smart products. This voice assistant is able to recognize the user’s natural language and “predict” his needs regarding the operation of the washing machine: which washing mode to choose, how much powder to use, how to troubleshoot, and so on.
Now the virtual assistant understands users who “speak” to it in English, Korean and Chinese. Very soon, the list of languages available for Bixby to understand will expand significantly. Although, to the disappointment of Russian-speaking users, there is no Russian in the updated list yet.
