• They take a pump – the most common one – and solder wires 1,5 m long to the power terminals.
• They open the case, study the electrical circuits, find a bypass valve that controls the filling of the liquid.
• The SMA is usually connected to the water supply through a normally closed solenoid valve that does not allow liquid to pass until the terminals are energized. The pump contacts are connected to the wires leading to the valve – the locking device turns into a control relay. Then solder the wires from the pump to the valve terminals. The case is closed and included in the network.

You won’t have to do any of this if you buy a SMA, to which a “barrel” is already attached. Such models are present in small quantities on the Russian market.
