15 creative projects you can start today

Many wait for the right moment to start a project. Especially if it is large or for its implementation you need to do something that has not been done before. It seems that devoting a couple of minutes a day to a serious matter is stupid, because this time is not enough. But what if it isn’t?

Doubts are understandable if you don’t have a free moment: work, children, everyday life, sports, hobbies… Even if we do just a little bit every day, we feel satisfaction, as if we won a small victory, and at the same time we don’t get tired.

Yes, the project is not completed, but something has been done, and this is progress and it is inspiring. If you knit one row every day, in a year you will get a huge blanket or sweater. Do not deprive yourself of the joy of creating, even before starting a project. Do not deprive an interesting experience because you cannot devote days or weeks to a project.

What do you do if you don’t know where to put your creative energy? A few tips to take as a starting point:

1. Walk for 15 minutes every day. After returning home, write down two or three lines about what you saw, or draw a map of movements.

2. Photograph breakfast every morning.

3. Choose a subject and photograph it in different places.

4. Ask the person to draw a line or a simple pattern, then draw on it to make a meaningful picture.

5. Every evening, write in your diary by hand three things that made you smile today. By the end of the year, you will have a positive book.

6. Take a photo of the same place at a different time every day.

7. Describe the mood in one word: tired, playful, serious, enthusiastic, etc.

8. Write down the phrase you heard in someone else’s conversation.

9. Make a drawing while listening to the song, sign its name next to it.

10 Lay out a “face” from improvised objects, take a picture.

11 Draw an object the way it will look in 50 years.

12 Draw the cloud you see (and if it doesn’t exist, invent it).

13 Every day, come up with a label for jam, cleaning agent, or whatever.

14 Make mini collages.

15 Draw what you bought.

Are there any projects that you keep putting off because you don’t have time? Maybe they are not related to drawing or photography, do you want to sort out the trash in the pantry or on the balcony, or sort clothes in the closet, or write a letter to your grandmother, or start writing a memoir?

Set a timer for 10 minutes and see how much you can get done in that time. Do the same tomorrow. Ten minutes or more if time permits. If not, it’s not scary. Move in small steps. The main thing is to start and do at least a little bit. Every five minutes you spend on a project, no matter what it is, brings you five minutes closer to its completion.
