One of our favorites is the historic Many Glacier Hotel. Established over 100 years ago in 1914 at around the time the US was opening up to car travel, this classic 3-star mountain resort offers guests some of the park’s best views. Its location on Swiftcurrent Lake only adds to its postcard-perfect setting, as well, of course, as the fun quotient.
In addition to being the perfect base from which to explore the area around Mount Grinnell, either by hiking or mountain biking, the hotel offers kayak rentals for those wanting to explore the lake. There’s also a beach to enjoy.
For those just wanting to soak in the amazing views, pull up a chair and relax on the hotel’s large patio. The views are equally stunning from the first-rate dining room, too, and there’s also a snack shop on-site. Those craving yet more adventure can partake in scenic boat cruises and horseback trail riding.
When booking a room, be sure to request a mountain view. These are usually available whether you’re booking a standard room or one of the larger family suites. Standard features include private bathrooms, while the larger suites offer additional living spaces.

Located in Columbia Falls on its own 40 acres of woodland, the family-owned and operated North Forty Resort offers plenty of affordable outdoor adventure.
A variety of accommodation options are available, one of the most popular being the resort’s cozy log cabins. There are 23 dotted around the property, plus a “glamping” tent, each equipped with features such as genuine log furniture, and kitchenettes, along with separate living areas.
Also worth a mention are the cozy gas fireplaces, plus spacious bathrooms, covered porches, and picnic tables. While the majority of cabins can sleep up to five comfortably, a number of larger units sleeping up to eight guests can also be booked.
On-site amenities include a meeting and communal cooking space, a recreation center, plus laundry facilities, as well as plenty of seating inside and out. There are also two hot tubs plus a sauna. The resort has a hiking trail, which is used for cross-country skiing in the winter months.
