1. Organize breakfast with friends
Save Friday nights at the bar after work for fall and winter. Sunday morning is a good time to meet with loved ones. Arrange breakfast on the balcony of the apartment or look into the summer cafe with a cozy terrace. Sunny morning helps to forget about old problems and invites to share new ideas.
2. Spend a day in the forest
Camping is the best way to relax after a week of work in the stone jungle. Go for a walk in the woods, go for a run or ride a bike. Fresh air improves health and improves mood. If you have a dog, take it with you.
3. Exercise outside
In the summer, not only regulars on treadmills move from fitness clubs to the street. Find out what events are taking place in your city. You can attend a yoga class on the grass or open dance training, work out on outdoor fitness equipment, play tennis on the outdoor court or badminton.
4. Plunge into the world of flowers
Blooming summer landscapes are excellent decorations for a walk with friends or an educational holiday with children. Go to the botanical garden, visit the greenhouse with exotic plants or go to the meadows for wildflowers. Enjoy the beauty, take photos, weave wreaths, arrange bouquets and collect flowers for future herbariums.
5. Read a book on the beach
Find a popular book on a topic that is far from you. Perhaps it was written by a person who adheres to a different religion, a politician you don’t support, or an actor you can’t stand. Immerse yourself in the world of another, unfamiliar and incomprehensible person to you. Surely you will learn a lot of new things and, perhaps, change your outlook on things.
6. Go berry picking
Of course, now you can buy everything in the store and on the market, but eating a berry from a bush is an incomparable pleasure. Any place will do: a clearing with forest strawberries, a cherry orchard or a summer cottage. You will help harvest and get raw materials for making cocktails and smoothies. Let your imagination run wild and come up with a signature drink or dessert.
7. Have a campfire
Recall childhood in the camp or with your grandmother. Build a fire, bake a potato, share stories, sing songs with a guitar. Memories of camping romance will warm winter evenings.
8. Go on a boat trip
Rest near the reservoir is not limited to lying on the shore. Go on a sea cruise or boat trip, swim across the lake in an inflatable boat or raft down a mountain river. Hurry towards water adventures and feel like an enthusiastic child.
9. Watch a movie outdoors
It is best to watch blockbusters outdoors. Go to the park cinema. Stock up on blankets, tea and insect repellent.
10. Walk around your city like a tourist
Perhaps it has popular tourist spots. You dislike them because of the influx of people and come there only with friends and relatives who came to visit from another city. Now try to become a tourist yourself. Take a walk through hackneyed places, look into small courtyards where you have never been before. A walk will teach you to notice details, resurrect warm memories and give new impressions of a familiar place.
11. Attend a street concert
Pull your headphones out of your ears, find out when and where outdoor concerts are taking place, or stop for a few minutes to listen to street musicians perform.
12. Take a weekend trip
If you don’t have time or money for a full vacation, arrange a mini-trip. Take friends or family and go to the bosom of nature. Grab blankets and thermoses to meet the sunrise against the backdrop of a lake, forest or mountains, depending on where you are.
13. Attend a street festival
This is a great opportunity to try new food, meet interesting people and learn more about life that is unfamiliar. Find out what events are taking place in your city (fairs, exhibitions, cultural days) and don’t forget to visit them.
