Beautiful and fragile Amazons riding brutal motorcycles is very intriguing! Woman`s Day learned from the city’s brightest motorcycle ladies how they dealt with their fear of speed and whether men like their lifestyle.
Anastasia Anisimova, 24 years old, entrepreneur
– I ride a motorcycle for the third season. It all started with a childhood dream: to grow up, buy a red motorcycle and … just put it on to admire. Once in my life everything turned upside down – I quit my job, opened my own business and ended a difficult relationship that was dragging me to the bottom. I thought: “When, if not now?” And literally caught fire.
Seeing my future mot (my friend was selling it), I realized that I could no longer live without him. I didn’t know how to drive, but I knew I could handle it. At that time, I already drove the car perfectly, felt the road and had a good reaction. Well, there is a head on the shoulders, which is not unimportant when riding powerful vehicles, be it a motorcycle, car or other vehicles.
I bought a motorcycle and did not understand at all what to do with it. She began to study in a closed area. It was scary, because I bought a very powerful motorcycle and any awkward movement could lead to sad consequences. First, I learned to start, change gears, start, brake and at least drive in a straight line. Well, then – more … She fell, got up, rode again and fell again.
Soon, having “got stronger”, she began to leave at night. Then it was as if I merged with the motorcycle, felt adrenaline, buzz, speed and a real sense of freedom … Perhaps this is the main thing that energizes us. You will not feel such feelings anywhere as on a motorcycle. I still can’t forget how I first accelerated the motorcycle to 250 km / h. on a closed straight road. Inside, everything froze!
Of course, my relatives are very worried, but, oddly enough, they support me and they no longer represent me without a bike. In addition, my family is like this: my mother Tatyana is a driving instructor and also rode a motorcycle on the racetrack, my sister Christina, after I bought a motorcycle, said that now she also dreams of it!
Angela Sovovna, 20 years old, student
– It all started at school: they gave me a ride on a moped, and then they even started driving. I went straight away and decided that I wanted my own motorcycle. Later I went to work wherever they took: to the communication salons, as a waitress, and handed out leaflets. A year later – I was 15 years old – I saved up and bought my first motorcycle. I deliberately chose a “Chinese” to learn how to drive: cheap, so not so sorry.
There are no motorcyclists in my family, and I did not say that I was saving up for a motorcycle. Just one spring dinner I told my parents that I bought it. They thought it was a joke and laughed. But when I showed the documents, they were no longer so funny. My parents forbade me to ride it. Still, I went to take the license (I wanted to earlier, but was afraid to burn). But then the law came into force that category “A” is issued only from the age of 18, and I was not allowed to get a license (I was 15 years old), and I did not need category “A1” (light motorcycle), because I already had bought a motorcycle 250 cubes! I took the documents from the driving school and went to the traffic police. At the exam, I already passed the theory and walked to the site at the race track, but an employee caught up with me and said that I was not 18, and I could not take it.
Then I went to another city in the region where they had not yet heard about the new law. But, unfortunately, they didn’t let me in because of my registration in another city. Then I decided to put up with it and wait 18, but for now I studied at a driving school for category “B”. Then I passed in both categories at once. And before that I went without a license. The family gradually came to terms with my passion, because they cannot take the mot that I bought with my own money.
I rode a lot in the forest, mud, mountains, steps, and even tried over logs … When I entered college, the shortest way there from home was through the forest. Every morning I started with it, and it was wonderful!
Now my mot is not in the garage, but … at home! The young man allowed him to spend the winter with us.
Tatyana Ivanova, 24 years old, director of the creative workshop
– At the age of 17, they gave me a ride on a motorcycle as a passenger, and I immediately understood – it’s mine! This is how the motorcycle became an integral part of my life. Friends helped me to choose the first one, and I learned to ride quickly.
I remember the first time I sat down to ride a motorcycle in the forest on my own: my feet did not reach the ground, it was high and scary, but the adrenaline was off scale! Has fallen a couple of times, but without falls there will be no ups. The path of a beginner is thorny, you need to have patience, perseverance and good equipment.
Now I have a Ducati Monster – the third motorcycle, it’s not scary to ride, I feel as one with my iron friend. Parents are delighted with my hobby! They are sincerely proud of such a brave and extraordinary daughter. Also, I have repeatedly participated in road-ring motorcycle races, won prizes. And I also like to evoke smiles and positive emotions from motorists on the road!
Anastasia Kovalenko, 23 years old, student
– From a conscious age I liked motorcycles and fast cars. Nobody rode me on them, my parents did not have a motorcycle, I just always went for it.
At the age of 19 I passed my license in category “A”, and at 20 I bought my first motorcycle. The choice fell on the baby Yamaha YBR 125. I wanted to buy something more powerful, but my husband didn’t allow it – I was worried that I couldn’t cope. After leaving for one season, I bought a serious motorcycle – Yamaha FZ6S.
More often I move outside the city. From April to the beginning of October I only go by motorcycle, I can’t drag it into a car by force. Neither rain nor intense heat will make me get off my two-wheeled pet! In the season I drive from 10 thousand km and more. There were falls and serious accidents, but I still can’t imagine my life without this type of transport! The most pleasant thing on a motorcycle is the feeling of the world from the inside, complete immersion in it. When driving a car, there is a kind of iron and glass barrier between you and the world around you. And riding a motorcycle is like flying.
But when choosing a motorcycle as a means of transportation, you need to weigh the pros and cons.
From the pros: you need to park – it’s not a car for you, even though you can find a narrow place where you can. I saw a traffic jam – I drove around. Some uncle moored in the car and wants to meet – she opened the throttle a little, and the uncle has already lost sight of you!
Men, by the way, treat women on a motorcycle ambiguously. Some say that the girl who is driving a car or driving a motorcycle is a “monkey” and her place is in the kitchen. Others elevate women on motorcycles to sex symbols.
But riding a motorcycle is not only so beautiful and cool. This is, firstly, dangerous: if you lost control of the car in a car, then in most cases everything will end only with a crumpled “iron” and an airbag resting on your face. On a motorcycle, you will be 100% on the ground and, at best, just ride on the asphalt. At worst, the motorcycle will be on you, you will fly into the bump stop or under the wheels of the car.
Secondly, it’s expensive! A motorcycle, like any technique, requires maintenance and repair. Yes, you also need to buy it. But that’s not all! When riding a motorcycle, you just need quality equipment. And the average price for it starts around 100 thousand rubles. And this is only one set, and we are girls. Equipment will be needed both in the heat and in the cold, and to be pretty. For those who believe that having bought a motorcycle, you can ride in leggings and a T-shirt, see the text about accidents above.
Thirdly, you need to be prepared that your chic styling under a helmet will not last even 5 minutes. And the makeup will be washed off when putting on and taking off the helmet. And your hands will probably smell like gasoline and chain cleaning. Well, the cloakroom attendants will swear that the equipment is hard to hang. But in my case, the pros and cons of buying a motorcycle outweighed. There is an expression: “Four wheels carry the body, and two – the soul.” Perhaps I agree with him.
Snezhanna Pyl, 24 years old, florist
– My love for motorcycles began in childhood: my dad and his friends rode me on them, only at that time the motorcycles were simpler – “Urals”, “Java”, “Izhki”. At first I rode with my dad, he soon entrusted the steering wheel to me, and I really liked it. I have always been drawn to technology! Therefore, having matured, I passed my license, and from the first time both theory and practice. I quickly decided on the choice of a motorcycle class – sporty! Absolutely everything attracted me to such bikes: from design to their sharpness, acceleration, speed and sounds – just music to my ears. When I hear him, my heart beats in my chest. I even gave him a name – Belyashik.
The family reacted positively to the hobby, but they always worry about me. The reaction of men is always delight: a beautiful girl on a beautiful, powerful motorcycle! Children are especially delighted with my appearance. And men like to get to know me at traffic lights, they race, ask me to ride them, give me a phone number.
The bike does not interfere with being feminine and taking care of yourself. When I ride, I put on a motorcycle suit. My face is protected from the wind by a visor (glass on the helmet), my hands are protected by gloves, and my hair is always good: I took off my helmet, fluffed up my hair with my hands – and it’s already beautiful.
Each trip is memorable. There were both good stories and bad ones, for example, a fall, and a serious one. But, thank God, the circumstances were on my side. The full equipment worked for itself, but the motorcycle got seriously damaged. While he was being repaired, I visited him every day, worried like a living, because the motorcycle is a part of me, the other half, the love of my life! When it was restored, there was no limit to joy! I came up, talked to Belyashik, and we flew to conquer new horizons towards the winds and the sun.
Alena Sboeva, 38 years old, beautician
– I have dreamed of mastering a motorcycle for a long time. And a couple of years ago I seduced my girlfriend with this dream – we went to study together for category “A”. I passed it the first time, and was very proud of myself. The family, of course, reacted to my idea without enthusiasm. They even tried to prohibit it, but if a woman wants, she will get it. I made a knight’s move and … gave my husband a certificate for training in category “A”.
After driving school, I myself did not have the opportunity to buy a bike for two years. And in 2016 – hallelujah, a dream come true!
Ekaterina Bardasova, 23, restaurant manager
– I was 15 years old when I fell in love with motorcycles while in Moscow. It seems to me that in those years there were much more bikers in the capital than here. I don’t remember the make of the motorcycle or the color, I only remember the sound with which it rushed along the road into the aisle. Now I no longer approve of such recklessness, but then it seemed like something from the realm of fantasy.
6 years later, I met a rather famous biker in Yekaterinburg on a sports bike. And my first trip was “number two” – 240 km / h. on the highway. It was a memorable event, but I realized that this was not enough for me.
Therefore, I went to study at a motorcycle school, and then like clockwork – right, motorcycle and the first season. There was never any fear, even when we flew 300 km / h. on the highway (I was a passenger). Or when for the first time I got out into the city on my own on my moto. It is impossible to be afraid and drive. Fear and motorcycle are a priori opposite concepts.
Now, having experience, I have a different attitude to it. I realized that racing around the city without proper equipment is an unjustified risk. A motorcycle is not a means of transportation, it is love. When you are driving, you meditate, relax, clear your brain of absolutely everything. There is only you and the road!
Yulia Koksharova, 31 years old, PTO engineer in a construction company
– Until 2014, I had never ridden a motorcycle myself – only a couple of times as a passenger with durzi. But in the spring of 2014 I saw a recruitment for a motorcycle school and decided to try it – can I? I haven’t even dreamed of a motorcycle yet. But I passed the exam the first time and after a couple of months I bought a motorcycle – Honda XR Motard. And that’s it, I got sick (laughs)! Friends bikers immediately appeared. I have not met such sympathetic people for a long time. When a motorcycle broke down, they were not too lazy to quit all their business, go out of town to fetch me and help me out.
I love a motorcycle because it is even easier to ride than a car. For me, a car is comfort, convenience. And the motorcycle is a hobby. Meet friends, plan a route, ride against the wind, enjoy the freedom!
Dad supports me, to the extent that he came to the start of the column at the closing of the motorcycle season to watch and take pictures of me. And my mother says every spring: “Sell it” – she is very afraid for me. And my young man is against: he does not ride a motorcycle himself, but still sometimes he helps me with minor repairs.
Sometimes I put on my makeup before traveling so that it can be seen that I am a girl (laughs). If the makeup smudges a little, I don’t worry. Hair after a trip gets tangled if it is not first braided. But appearance at such moments is not at all important to me!
Olesya Sharko, 20 years old, student
– When I was 17 years old, I got into our local motorcycle club. He organizes motojimkhana – stunt riding competitions. The club had a recruitment of volunteers. Of all the volunteers in two seasons, only three people remained, including me. But we no longer just help at events, but full-fledged members of the club.
At first, I could not even understand why they took me, because I am only 17, I really do not know anything! And everyone in the club is adults, seasoned motorcyclists. But I very quickly joined this company. In the summer I turned 18, and I immediately received a license of category “A”.
I haven’t had time to buy my own horse yet, but I still ride it whenever possible. Either pit bikes, or number two with friends I leave, but I can no longer imagine my life without a motorcycle either in winter or in summer. I am planning to buy a motorcycle. I am considering sports, a sports tourist, because in the future I plan long trips across Russia and Europe.
Mom was against it at first. But after a year I got used to it and wanted to ride a motorcycle myself. At the close of the 2016 season, she rode with me in a convoy. And a week later she got a license of category “A”. When she had her birthday, I gave her an unforgettable gift: we went for a drive on pit bikes. She was satisfied! I plan to take her with me further, but not always – my mother also needs to be protected.
– Once I rode the second number (passenger) with a former young man. I really liked the feeling of speed. Then I decided to pass the license myself and drive on my own.
On the first day of driving on the autodrome it was scary, especially doing the “eight” exercise, when you need to go around the pins. But when I figured out how to balance and shift gears, it became easy. And the fear disappeared immediately.
The family took my new hobby quite calmly. In addition, in a driving school, I met my future husband – together we passed on the coveted category “A”. And now we ride together.
Something always happens on the road, and it doesn’t matter if you are driving a car or a motorcycle. But it’s cool to get together with like-minded people near “Cosmos” or “Airship” in order to look at others and show yourself. And each time these meetings bring new acquaintances, new motorcycles and knowledge.
Yana Panova, 30 years old, deputy. chief accountant
– I fell in love with motorcycles at 15, but got on my first bike only at 24. Before that – never! And, of course, a man inspired me to do this. He had a motorcycle, and I dreamed of how we would ride together. It was he who told me a lot, gave me the theory, and I was taught to drive in a driving school. Since I immediately went to study for the rights of category “A”, and “B” was already there before.
After I got my license and bought a motorcycle, I had to train myself. Because I started my first season on my motorcycle as a free girl – it just so happened.
Mom and Dad were happy! Although in the first place, of course, they were worried. But no one was against. And dad is probably even proud! And my son also likes the way his mother looks on an “iron horse”, although he has no such passion. But who knows – time will tell!
Elena Panasenko, 27 years old, transaction support specialist
– I dreamed of a motorcycle since the age of 14. Fell in love with bikes when one of the first sports (sport bikes) began to ride around the city. My brother also rides, but our interest in motor vehicles somehow appeared independently of each other. And yet, at first it was he who taught me to ride. Sometimes friends took it as a passenger, but the second number was not at all the same! Therefore, as soon as the opportunity arose, I went to study at a driving school and bought my first motorcycle! In 2013 she joined the ranks of motorcyclists.
Often funny incidents arise on the road, most often they are associated with the reaction of others to a motorcycle, especially when a girl is driving. Even traffic police officers are sometimes surprised when they stop a motorcyclist, but it turns out that the driver is a girl. And, of course, the children: they have such sincere emotions at the sight of a motorcycle, as they say something, then you remember for a long time and smile!
Maria Sukhanova, 33 years old, works in a trading company
– Since childhood I loved technology, and I have always liked sports motorcycles and cars. I was slowly but surely moving towards my goal. I started to get involved in motorcycles at school, and riding it became my dream. There was never any fear.
In 2015, I passed my license, and in 2016 I already bought my first motorcycle – friends-motorcyclists inspired me to purchase it.
The first bike is the Kawasaki Ninja 250cc. I chose it according to the principle: the less, the easier it is to learn to drive, since more powerful motorcycles are for experienced pilots.
Relatives, of course, were very surprised, even in shock, perhaps. They are still worried. Although I did not have any dangerous cases. I only remember that once it was very difficult to go, because for the first time I came under a heavy downpour.
And once again, when I was driving along the highway from Yekaterinburg to Talitsa, there was a very strong side wind. And since this was the first such trip, all the way I was blown away by the wind into the oncoming lane. Several times I almost met a car driving towards me. This was really scary! I was afraid that I could not hold the motorcycle, plus there were road bumps along the way, because of them the steering wheel dangled and I could hardly hold myself.
There were also funny moments. For example, when I was driving in a traffic jam between the rows, the drivers often paid attention to me and asked me to give them a “second number”. By the way, motorists in a traffic jam often miss a motorcyclist girl.
