- Map of Resorts in Honduras
Honduras has a burgeoning tourist scene that is mostly concentrated on the island of Roatan, where you’ll find the best resorts in the country. It serves as a diving and snorkeling paradise, thanks to its locale adjacent to the world’s second largest barrier reef system. The resorts here come in all shapes and sizes and cater to travelers looking for active or relaxing vacations.
Honduras’ capital city of Tegucigalpa is also home to a number of resorts, many of which are familiar American brands, like InterContinental, Hyatt, and Hilton. The city mainly attracts business travelers or visitors on a layover on their way to Roatan.
La Ceiba, which is a Caribbean port city on the northern coast, also has a few notable resorts. The city serves as the gateway to the Bay Islands that include Roatan, Utila, and Guanaja.
More hotels exist in San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras, which is an industrial city that is also a transport hub, and in Tela, on the Caribbean coast, which is a gateway to Jeanette Kawas National Park in the west, home to coastal lagoons, beaches, and jungles.
Note that the country does not have any 5-star hotels, so the most luxe properties are equivalent to 4-star resorts. Also note that most of the resorts are on the boutique end; you won’t find any sprawling beach builds in Roatan for instance. They are not lacking in resort amenities, however. Check out this list of the best resorts in Honduras.

Amenities here include a restaurant, infinity swimming pool with Caribbean Sea views, and sun loungers around the pool, as well as on the beach. Kids will like the outdoor games, including a human-sized chessboard and a putting green.
