11 most common mistakes housewives make
Each of us tries to manage the household so that there is no shame either in front of the guests or in front of mom. But sometimes even the most diligent of us makes mistakes. Wday.ru has collected the 10 most common mistakes of housewives, which are best left in the past in the name of the health of households.
1. Rarely change dish sponges
We are sure that in almost every kitchen there is a couple of multi-colored sponges for washing dishes, which many housewives prefer to simply rinse in hot water and use further. But, as it turned out, a cubic centimeter of this item contains about 30 billion different bacteria, which often cannot be dealt with even by special disinfectants. Germs that can cause an intestinal infection or other nuisance
But many housewives change the sponge once a month or only after it is completely worn out. So change the sponges weekly and don’t leave them wet in the sink.
2. Don’t wash your TV remote
Few people would think to disinfect the remotes from the split system and the TV, but in vain! This must be done, as a huge number of bacteria accumulate on them. This is generally one of the dirtiest objects in the house – along with a cell phone, which has more germs than the rim of the toilet. In order to protect yourself and your loved ones from infectious diseases, place packages of disinfectant wipes near the TV and air conditioner and periodically clean the remotes.
3. You don’t wash your coffee maker every day
Many homes now have coffee makers, but few seriously think about caring for this miracle of technology. If you do not wash the bowl in which the drink is prepared, then you are seriously risking your health. The fact is that mold deposits form on the walls of the container and at the joints of the lid, which not only spoils the taste and quality of coffee, but will obviously not bring any benefit to your body. Try to train yourself to wash the bowl after each use.
4. Love fabric softener too much
If you decide that the more softener you add during washing, the better, then you are deeply mistaken. As a result, things will not become soft, but tough. Sometimes because of this, greasy stains may even appear on clothes. In addition, there are quite a few fragrances in this laundry detergent, which is not good for health: they can cause allergies and irritation of the mucous membranes. So the conditioner should be poured exactly as indicated in the instructions.
We understand that it is generally difficult to agree with this. But experts warn: quit this business, otherwise you will harm yourself. Bacteria from meat, poultry or fish will not disappear when washed. They will only scatter all over the kitchen with water droplets. And you risk getting a salmonella breeding ground right on the table. Or by the sink. So it’s better to cut the meat and cook right away. And don’t forget to drain the first broth. What other products should not be washed, read HERE.
6. Your kitchen towels last for years
Yes, they can still look presentable because you wash them regularly. Or maybe even boil it. But after a couple of months, all this stops helping. This is because a kitchen towel is a very versatile piece. They can wipe the table dry, lift the pot lid, open the oven, dry your hands and dab the sweat from your forehead. And then we are killed, from where inflammation on the skin, nasty indistinct pimples and other troubles. Yes, everything from there – from a towel. Which, after two months of use, has become a breeding ground for many bacteria.
7. Forgetting to descale the kettle
When water is boiled, a natural precipitate of calcium salts forms in the inner surfaces of the vessel. This is fraught with more than spoiling kitchen utensils. Limescale can get into drinks or food. With regular use of such a liquid, salt deposits gradually accumulate in the kidneys. Therefore, do not forget to descale the kettle in a timely manner.
8. Rarely do wet cleaning
In order to save time and effort, many housewives prefer not to wash the floors, but only to vacuum them, but this is not enough for a complete cleaning. Thousands of dust mites can be found on uncleaned floors. These microscopic insects can cause severe allergies and exacerbation of asthma. Therefore, the floor must be washed at least twice a week, as well as wet cleaning of all surfaces in the house. By the way, from the point of view of feng shui, cleaning is something like meditation. And wet cleaning takes a very important place here, more about this HERE.
9. Warm food in plastic containers
On the one hand, it is very convenient. Especially when you are in a hurry, and we are in a hurry all the time. But when heated, some types of plastics emit dangerous substances – phthalates. Accumulating in the body (yes, they are capable of it), phthalates can cause a variety of ailments, up to hormonal disruption. Therefore, do not consider it a work, put the food in a normal plate. And God bless him that you have to wash the excess. But you won’t have to be treated.
10. One rag for all surfaces
All of us sometimes sin with this – what was in the hand, that erased the drops from the floor. If you use the same sponge for both the table and the sink, it turns out that you are transferring dirt and germs from one object to another. The same applies to towels, with which many housewives wipe kitchen surfaces. Therefore, for each zone in the house, you just need to get its own separate rag and rinse it thoroughly after each use. Disposable wet wipes or paper towels are a great option.
11. Cut off mold from bread
Yes, you can’t throw away the bread. But if nasty green spots appeared on it, then nothing can be done about it. Now bread has one way – to the trash. Mold spores at this point have already spread throughout the bun. therefore, cutting off is pointless – you will eat them anyway. And this is not at all good for your body. Mold can release specific toxins called mycotoxins. They, in turn, can provoke a lot of troubles: from allergies to oncology.
