In childhood, many girls dream of trying on a wonderful Snow Maiden costume. What is it like to wear a snow coat and a hat every New Year, to bring a fairy tale to children, and to adults – a festive mood, the heroines of Woman’s Day told.

– I joined the ranks of the Snow Maidens 3 years ago, and during this time I received a lot of positive emotions! Together with Grandfather Frost, I like to surprise adult children and their little children. About six months ago, I got the idea to transform the image of the Snow Maiden, and I turned into a hip-hop girl.
At New Year’s corporate parties, I have my own specialty: in the image of the Snow Maiden, I read rap, which I compose in advance for any company. It is very interesting, exciting and modern. Old traditions in a new way!
– My husband and I are the hosts of the festive events. Since on New Year’s Eve, reincarnation as Santa Claus and Snow Maiden is always relevant, the question of roles was resolved automatically. We bought suits and started working.
There was a funny case when a year ago we congratulated children at home, and after congratulations and presenting gifts we went down to the exit. We met a grandmother with a granddaughter on the way. A girl of 5–6 years old was looking at us attentively, then turned to her grandmother and asked: “Bah, who is this?” These are the modern kids who know the Winx fairies, but Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden bypassed.
Despite this, we love giving children a fairy tale! They have the most sincere emotions. Santa Claus with the Snow Maiden is already a holiday, and if their arrival is supported by a cheerful, bright, rich program, tricks, dances, gifts, children are delighted, and adults are happy.

– As a child, I dreamed of becoming a singer, but instead, years later, I opened my own music school in Yekaterinburg called “School of Rock SuperStar” and became a singing host of holidays, including Snegurochka!
It’s great when you give a holiday, fairytale atmosphere and New Year’s mood to children. Most of all, I remember a trip to an orphanage in the city of Polevskoy together with the conscience charitable foundation. Everything was unexpectedly at home there. The children immediately took a tour of the house, were very open and enthusiastically told different stories. It’s great if we managed to create a New Year’s holiday atmosphere for them. These children, despite the difficult life circumstances, remain positive, cheerful and hospitable people. I really want their lives to no longer have such trials and everything will turn out in the best possible way!
– The idea of becoming a Snow Maiden came up three years ago, when I had my own Santa Claus – an artist who had been playing Grandpa for several years. I am a teacher, and it is always joyful for me when children see a fairy tale and believe in magic. Therefore, without thinking twice, we ordered suits from the seamstress, and I made a kokoshnik. I remember that somehow, in conditions of force majeure, we had to put on suits right at the entrance, and people walked by and smiled at us happily – everyone loves Santa Claus if he looks decent.
And the most memorable New Year story happened at a children’s matinee. It’s very hot in a Santa Claus costume: a beard, a fur coat, felt boots. Plus stuffiness from dancing and playing with children. There were times when Grandfathers practically fainted. So, in the midst of one of the games, I run up to Santa Claus, who for some reason has turned white as snow, and whispers to me: “Granddaughter, tie up with contests. Grandpa is melting … “.
The first matinee was the worst. And I still worry every time: what kind of guys will they like, will they like the games, will someone be upset … There were situations when some of the guys started crying because they forgot to give him a gift, or someone then from the children pushed and “the dress was crumpled.” For this, the Snow Maiden is needed – to prevent force majeure situations, to calm down, to amuse.
Therefore, it is a pity that someone is saving on the Snow Maiden – she is the right hand of Santa Claus and the main nanny!

– I have been doing animation for 6 years. As a child, I went to a circus studio, and when I had to leave it, I really missed the stage. I saw an announcement for a recruitment of animators and decided to try myself. My first matinees were not very successful: in the circus I used to rehearse for a long time, and performed when everything was completely ready. But animation is all about improvisation. You never know how children will react. Sometimes they repeat the behavior of their parents and respond with a funny phrase. For example: “We are not like this – this is how life is.” It’s funny to hear that from a kid’s lips.
Now I can’t imagine my life without children’s holidays! I’m not worried, I know that I can get out of any situation. And when I just started, I wrote myself a cheat sheet with words.
Recently I also took up soap bubbles. I thought it would be a great show for children. But it turned out that they are much more interested in bursting these giant bubbles. It brings tons of fun! Then they walk from head to toe in soap.
Once I spent the birthday of a little girl in the form of the Little Mermaid and gave her an ordinary bead in the shape of a pearl on a gold string. She said that this is my gift to her from the very bottom of the ocean. And hung it around my neck. Some time later, I met this girl at her friend’s birthday party – and she was in this pendant. And asked if she always wears it? The girl replied that of course, because it is such a beauty! I was deeply moved. After all, I did not remain just a passing animator, but left a small mark in her life.
– After the theater institute, I got a job at the Kolyada Theater as an actress, and for the very first Kolyada – our New Year’s tales – I was appointed Snegurochka. When I saw my last name in the distribution, my jaw dropped! Of course, the first five trees passed uncertainly, shyly and with small incidents in front of the children: I did not know how to answer their tricky questions, I was confused in words. Everything seemed incomprehensibly complicated, because children cannot be fooled. But my partners Santa Claus – the artists of our theater Maxim Tarasov, Sasha Kuchik, Sasha Zamuraev, Sergey Fedorov – are real pros. They quickly taught me this pleasant craft – to be a Snow Maiden. The main thing is to remain sincere and never forget that the most miraculous New Year is on the nose!
I mastered a lot of games, learned, no matter how strange it may sound, to be kind, funny, funny. I learned to be myself, despite the white wig, fur coat, muff, felt boots and kokoshnik. I myself still believe in Santa Claus and his granddaughter Snegurochka. And my daughter believes, although she sees her mother dressed as a Snow Maiden every December and January!
The most memorable performances are Christmas trees in orphanages. My Santa Claus Anton Butakov and I undertake every year to hold charity Christmas trees for children without parents and for children with disabilities.
– For 6 years now, every year in the middle of winter I have been trying on the image of the Snow Maiden. It’s probably hard to find a job more fabulous than this. When you give children joy, when you see how their eyes shine, how they sincerely waited for you – this is a real fairy tale. It makes me happy when a child believes in Santa Claus and Snow Maiden, at such moments I want to smile. And most importantly, you get a lot more warmth from the children, a kind of exchange of kindness turns out. And despite the cold weather, uncomfortable shoes, early ascents, millions of learned scenarios, I want to go again and again and be the Snow Maiden …
Everyone knows that Snegurochka and Santa Claus come on reindeer, and last year, on the Marvel Puzzle project, the guys saw reindeer with their own eyes. And they even managed to ride.
Believe in a fairy tale! Be happy! Happy New Year, everyone!
– On December 30 of last year, my co-host Maxim Shiryaev and I held a New Year’s corporate party for one cheerful company. We celebrated the holiday in a suburban complex. The room for props and changing clothes was on the basement floor – in the basement. You go down there – there are many doors, pipes and passages everywhere. Our dressing room was just behind one such door. It was closed with a very complex lock with a code. And I am a person who is quite reluctant to be friends with technology. I didn’t go there alone, I asked someone from my team to come down with me and watch the castle.
And now: the middle of the holiday, the fun is in full swing, the moment has come for me and the co-host to retire to reincarnate in Santa Claus and Snow Maiden. The program includes a whole block of congratulations from company employees, New Year contests and a flash mob.
We go down to the bunker, Maxim changes his clothes and leaves, saying that he will be waiting for me at the top. I forget about the door and calmly continue my reincarnation. When I come to the door, I understand that it is locked, and I am all alone in this room underground! The dance pause ends, we already need to be in the hall, and the Snow Maiden is locked. I knock on the door, there is no phone with me … I think: well, that’s it, now we will fill up a corporate party in full.
I walk through the bunker and hear that someone is running towards me. It was my wonderful Santa Claus who remembered that he had left me alone behind this huge door, and “flew” to me to rescue. The corporate party went off with a bang!
– I have been dealing with holidays as a presenter since 2008, and before that I acted as an organizer. Once an acquaintance with whom we worked complained that there were no hosts left for weddings on a beautiful date. She asked me to lead, and I agreed. And so it began. Weddings, New Years, corporate events started …
More often I play the role of the Snow Maiden at adult corporate parties. At children’s parties – the last few years. With children from 7 years old, I do not pretend to be a fairy-tale character. I say: “Hello everyone! My name is Oksana. I am the host in a Snow Maiden costume. Let’s make a Snowman. ” Children like this approach – they are drawn to sincerity. Well, I come to visit children up to 4 years old as a real Snow Maiden.
With adults, I am an alternative version of the granddaughter of Santa Claus. I myself used to think that the Snow Maiden should be a small, fragile blonde. But this is not the case. My image is so hooligan, mischievous. Our people are sophisticated, it is important that the picture is beautiful – people may not even be interested in the program. Therefore, every year our costumes are more and more expensive: fur appliques, rhinestones, sequins, beads and other decor are added. Sometimes it also seems to me that manufacturers compete in the size of the kokoshnik every year. Thus, each Snow Maiden has a whole arsenal of clothes. At the very least, these are two complete sets: one for indoor use, the other for outdoor use. Therefore, my closets are bursting, and sometimes it seems to me that festive costumes will soon evict household members.
Last year, friends decided to organize a Christmas tree for their children. My 4 year old daughter was also among them. I was very worried that she would recognize my mother. But she reacted calmly, only at the end of the evening she asked me to tell Santa Claus so that he would not bring edible gifts next year.
– I am 23 years old, but I love the New Year as a 3-year-old child! Even at school she performed as a Snow Maiden for kids. And I got so carried away that I created a studio of holidays “Three hedgehogs” and now I professionally organize matinees for the children of Yekaterinburg. I see how the children’s eyes shine, and I understand that it was not in vain that they wrote the script, prepared the costumes, rehearsed – we presented a holiday!
I remember a case from the New Year’s performance. The artists have a tradition of arranging surprises for each other at the last concert. Imagine: on stage, in the guise of the Snow Maiden, I go up to the chest, according to the plot I have to get a magic ball … and there is nothing! Other characters look as if nothing had happened: “Well, Snow Maiden, where is the magic ball?” And the other actors behind the scenes burst with laughter. I had to get out on the go. Since then, improvisation has been my strong point.
– Looks like it. And the hair is long. Singing? Tomorrow for the rehearsal – like this, with the light hand of the director of the theatrical and choral studio, for the first time I put on the Snow Maiden costume. Little princess of a winter fairytale – I was 12 years old. And then – the faces of happy children and the love of New Year’s magic did their job.
I love my character. I like the reaction of the children. In my Snow Maiden I try to change something every year: I write programs, order jewelry.
Of course, every year on New Year’s holidays, there are many incidents and funny stories. The most interesting thing is when parents play along. The funniest story happened not even at the holiday, but after it on the street: in the evening I decided to walk on foot in the image of the Snow Maiden. The weather is like in a fairy tale: light snow flakes fly smoothly, the weather is just for walking, only minus 10-12 degrees. And I hear a child’s voice: “Mom, mom, look, Snow Maiden!” I turn around: a little girl about 5 years old. Mom tells her: “You see, the Snow Maiden has already arrived, she looks and checks the lists of Santa Claus, whether all the children are really behaving well and obeying their parents. And today you didn’t finish your porridge and refused to drink milk… ”. I never laughed like that! Mom is just super, she was found right away!
