11 healthy foods before drinking alcohol

Everyone knows that drinking alcohol on an empty stomach leads to the most unfortunate consequences: there is a craving for “heroic” deeds, a desire to sort things out with neighbors, or an obsession to find out if others respect you.

Food and alcohol are inseparable things. The beneficial properties of certain foods eaten before drinking alcohol will help the body cope with large doses, allow you to stay on your feet longer, relieve hangovers and get rid of the desire to go beyond decency.

Experts from the US Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics provided a list of such products; at the same time, it does not include snacks and chips, without which no party can do.

Low fat yogurt

Many people think that yogurt is just a replacement for a full meal for those who are too lazy or have not had time to cook something tasty for themselves. However, according to Kim Larson, a certified sports nutritionist, yogurt is a great snack option. For example, by adding it to muesli, you can get a dish containing all the most important trace elements, carbohydrates and proteins. The intestines will be filled for a long time, since such food is digested for 4-6 hours.

Hummus – a snack made from chickpeas

It is recommended to use hummus with raw vegetables: carrots, peas, legumes and cucumbers, then the body will receive all the necessary micro and macro elements.

Salmon

Alcohol burns up vitamin B12 stores in the body. The richest food with this vitamin is salmon, which also contains essential omega fatty acids. Dietitian Marina Chaparro, who has a Master of Public Health degree, states that vitamins in this group “perform many physiological functions in the body”, including the promotion of short-term memory and general neurological function.

Milk

On the morning before the party, instead of coffee liqueur or vodka, you should drink a glass of milk. This is truly a gift from nature, as it contains high levels of potassium, which “tends to be flushed out of the body with frequent urination,” says nutritionist Isabelle Maples. Milk is 90% water, so it will prevent dehydration.

Pasta

“Alcohol reduces liver glycogen stores, which are a quick source of energy,” says Maples. Carbohydrates help to replenish glycogen levels, in addition, they remain in the stomach for a long time. According to the nutritionist, dumplings will be no less effective than spaghetti.

Chicken

“Protein-rich foods take longer to digest and slow the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream,” Maples explains. A palm-sized chicken sandwich containing the required amount of protein and carbohydrates will be quite enough.

Garden quinoa

It is difficult to describe how rich in protein and fiber this plant is. Quinoa lettuce “slows down gastric emptying, which prevents alcohol from sneaking up and surprising with its effects,” says Maples.

Avocado

Mashed green pear fruit is used to make guacamole, which is rich in healthy fats that “digest more slowly than carbohydrates,” says Maples.

Almond oil

Like avocado oil, almond oil is rich in healthy fats that help slow down the absorption of alcohol.

Bran

All lazy people who have nothing in the house but cereals and milk are lucky. Of course, they cannot boast of a wide variety of menus, but the cereals they eat are rich in fiber, especially granulated bran, which are an excellent buffer for alcohol, inhibiting its absorption.

Eggs

This product, from which a chicken could have emerged, is not only one of the necessary ingredients in the most delicious dishes, but also a cure for hangovers. It is with him that you need to start the meal before you go to an entertainment event. Its essential amino acids help neutralize some of the alcohol you drink.
