101 Beginning To Live: Secrets Of The World’s Oldest Yoga Coach

How it all began …

Tao Porchon-Lynch was born in India to a French family in 1918. The girl was only eight when one day, while walking, she saw people meditating on the beach. Their graceful and graceful appearance so amazed Tao that she at all costs decided to learn everything that they can do. In those years, girls could not do yoga, since this type of gymnastics was practiced exclusively by men. But Tao Porchon-Lynch didn’t stop it. “If the boys can, then I can too!” – she declared to her parents and since then she began to simply repeat the exercises after other yogis. 

Already at the age of 20, Tao became a professional yogini, but so far she could not earn a living from this. She left for France and became a model for Coco Chanel and Jeanne Lanvin. And then she went to America to work in Hollywood, but she never achieved much success. Then the girl asked herself what could bring her real pleasure. And the answer was not long in coming: of course, yoga. 

Secrets of longevity

Tao Porchon-Lynch became the first founder of the European Union of Yoga Teachers and spent the next 75 years as a teacher. 

Я never think about age and I do not regret about the years I have lived. I sincerely believe that nothing is impossible for me, – says Tao Porchon-Lynch. – I’m almost completely I can control my health without resorting to pills… For many years I have not seen a doctor at all. 

At the age of 83, Tao broke her hip. For many women at her age, this meant the end of an active life, but not for Tao Porchon-Lynch. A month after the operation, the yogini was again in the classroom, and after another 4 years she began to practice ballroom dancing with young partners. 

– I decided not wasting your time with destructive thoughts about negative things, – Tao shares the secrets of happiness. – I just say to myself: “Today will be the happiest day of my life!” – and I have no doubt about it. Do not think that you cannot do something or that something is impossible for you! Because everything, absolutely everything is possible! And if you like something, just do it. 

Achievements

The name Tao Porchon-Lynch is listed in the Guinness Book of Records, she is the oldest yogini in the world. Her autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master, has become a bestseller and has won several literary awards. In the novel, Tao described her meetings with many historical figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, General Charles de Gaulle, Ernest Hemingway, Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Duke Ellington, Coco Chanel …

Tao left this world on February 21, 2020, her heart stopped. Until the last days of her life, she drove a car, took the most difficult asanas and taught other yogis in New York. Meditation master Deepak Chopra has named her the most respected modern yogi in the world.
