The established restrictions undoubtedly limit the spread of all viruses, including influenza. However, flu is more effective and easier to prevent through vaccination. According to the experts of the National Program for Combating Influenza, it is important to increase the availability of flu vaccinations, so that in the future it would be easier to differentiate flu from COVID-19, the initial symptoms of which are very similar.

Flu in the elderly

The share of the elderly is growing significantly in the demographic structure. The latest Eurostat report shows that in 2050 every third European will be a senior! [3] Therefore, in the age of an aging society, prevention plays an important role. It is, no doubt age is one of the most important risk factors for complications and deaths from influenza.

Adam Antczak, chairman of the Scientific Council of the National Program for Combating Influenza.

Influenza vaccination among the elderly

Better access to vaccinations will significantly increase the vaccination coverage rate.
