• Special primer, you need to buy it in the store. This is not earth, but a mixture of bark, sawdust and peat substrate. Many varieties of orchids naturally grow on trees and rocks, they have a developed aerial root system.  

• Transparent pot… Orchid roots are actively involved in photosynthesis, they need light. 

• Rare watering – about once every two to three weeks. An orchid tolerates drought more easily than waterlogging. There should be no stagnant water in the pot. It is important! Watering should be started when there is no moisture left in the pot; condensation is clearly visible in a transparent pot. But some varieties, on the contrary, need moist soil.

• Lighting – diffused bright. Direct sunlight is unacceptable, they will leave burns on the leaves. Lack of light will affect the color of the leaves, they will become pale, elongated, yellow. 

• Warmly: on warm windowsills, a tropical orchid feels good. Almost all varieties adapt to temperatures of + 18… + 27 ° C. The ideal place for them is a bright bathroom with a large window: there is light, and humidity, and warmth.

How to properly care for an orchid?

Watering by immersion: put the flower pot in a cup, fill with warm or room temperature water up to about half the height of the pot (the soil should not float). If the plant does not bloom, you can arrange a warm shower for it – pour it on top, irrigate the leaves and let the soil be saturated with moisture. After 10 minutes, pull out the pot, let the water drain and return the plant to its place.

Top dressing is not the most obligatory care item, but if you decide to heal the plant, then choose special fertilizers for the orchid: during the flowering period, the composition with potassium and phosphorus (the flowers will become more magnificent), during the rest period – the composition with nitrogen.
