«Will is what makes you win when your mind says you’re already defeated» (Carlos Castaneda)

If you smokemy friend, this article is for you.

If you are free, but there are relatives who are not free — let them read.

Today is exactly 100 days since I quit smoking.

Having gone from an adherent to an ardent opponent of smoking, I want to share my perception. If this article inspires at least one person to change their habits for the better, I wrote it for a reason.

I was a heavy smoker with a good record.

A pack of hard cigarettes a day.

140 cigarettes a week.

560 cigarettes per month.

6 cigarettes per year.

Smokers know all about the dangers of smoking, I assure you, my friend.

Smokers can make the best public service announcements about the dangers of smoking.

After all, they cough in the morning after sleep, cannot catch their breath after jogging 50 meters behind the bus, and, under various pretexts, postpone the passage of fluorography.

The so-called «secondary benefits», why people do not quit smoking, we will not consider, they — reasons — darkness.

3 powerful techniques helped me personally: «The Dickens Process», «The Price of the Word» and «Mindhunters».

«The Dickens Trial» — transformation technique from the arsenal of Tony Robbins. Who passed it live, returned by other people. I went through it, shall we say, through one handshake from Tony Robbins.

Briefly and very simply, its essence is that we take a certain negative current state and extend it into the future for 5-10-15-20 years and carefully look at the consequences. We imagine in detail what will happen if we leave the current state as it is. In colors, in the smallest details. In the consequences. In negative consequences. And at a certain moment I realized that I was old, broken, coughing, sick at 50 years old. Again, I have described the technique in a very, very simplified way.

And the important thing is that it works with conscious people.

For the unconscious have a different principle:

“And you will breed wolves on the earth,

And teach them to wag their tail!

And then you have to pay,

So after all, understand, — then!

(Galich, of course)

Second — «The price of the word».

How did Charles de Gaulle quit smoking? He went to the parade ground and announced to all those gathered: «I, General Charles de Gaulle, quit smoking!» And he could no longer keep his general’s word.

Third. There is a movie «Mindhunters». FBI psychology cadets on an isolated island pass a final exam that turns into a nightmare for them. There is an episode where a maniac sets up a trap for one of the team members — a heavy smoker. Acid-poisoned cigarettes. Her lungs practically burn out in a minute. For a very long and very terrible minute. Of course, it is not lung cancer, not tar, not nicotine that kills her. But the mechanism of how the poison entered the body is exactly the same — inhalation. Friends smokers, a must-see, a lot of impressions! I remember how I shuddered when I dragged on a cigarette and remembered the episode of the movie.

Now attention (The following text is not mine, I used it when I quit smoking, and now I can’t find where I got it from).

When you, my friend, throw the last cigarette in your life, then:

  • In twenty minutes, your blood pressure will return to normal.
  • After two hours, nicotine begins to be removed from the body, at which point the first withdrawal symptoms are felt.
  • After twelve hours, the carbon monoxide from smoking will be completely eliminated from the body, the lungs will begin to function better, and the feeling of lack of air will pass.
  • After two days, taste sensitivity and smell will become more acute
  • After forty-eight hours, all nicotine is eliminated from your body. Your taste and smell functions will return to normal
  • After seventy-two hours, the level of strength will increase
  • After two weeks, your circulation will speed up and continue to improve.
  • After eight weeks, the thin olfactory canals will be completely cleared of resin and soot, and the sharpness of odors will suddenly acquire a “bright sound”
  • After twelve weeks (three months), the functioning of the circulatory system improves, making it easier to walk and run; memory will improve
  • After seven to nine months, cough, shortness of breath and breathing problems become significantly less pronounced, lung function increases by 10%
  • In five years, the risk of myocardial infarction will be 2 times less than that of smokers.

My positive experiences without nicotine in my life:

  • What a blessing it is to breathe fresh air. Say, the fresh air of Meshchera
  • My savings is $70 a year without cigarettes
  • My savings is 1.5 hours every day without cigarettes (smoking 5 minutes, 20 cigarettes a day) = almost 2 days every month! 24 days a year!!!
  • Cheerfulness and energy in the morning!
  • I returned to sports
  • No unpleasant odor from clothes and mouth
  • For business people — independence from planning meetings and negotiations. And before, I just thought, as soon as it would end, jump out and smoke to my heart’s content.

Was it easy?

Not even at all.

The first days I was ready to run on the walls — I wanted to smoke so much.

Irritability, reddening of the face, trembling in the body, rapid pulse are unpleasant companions of the first days of withdrawal.

It’s worth it — endure, break, win.

100 days without nicotine.

Excellent!

And you can, my friend!
