Everyone needs courage from time to time. But the «inner guard» protects against pain, risk and loss of what is valuable — pride, work, the approval of others. No wonder most go through life «on tiptoe» and then regret not taking the risk. Fortunately, courage can be trained.
We often regret that we did not take risks, did not listen to intuition, complain about the lack of courage. But this is not an innate quality, it is a skill that can be trained, as we train different muscle groups in the gym.
If for 10 days you perform at least one brave deed, you will feel that you have become bolder, and new opportunities will open up before you. Here are 10 ways to do it.
1. Set a bold goal
We suffer more from indecision than from excessive courage. Set an ambitious goal: go on 10 dates in 10 days, run a marathon, double your income in 2 years, and life will sparkle with new colors.
2. Say «no»
If you are afraid to miss something important and therefore agree to all offers and accept any invitations, you do not have time, energy, desire for interesting and promising business. Afraid of upsetting others by rejection? But it’s better than missing opportunities.
3. Feel free to ask
People can’t read minds, if you need something, tell them. You have nothing to lose: even if you are refused, you will have certainty.
4. Ask for forgiveness
Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. Sometimes we are driven by pride, self-doubt and jealousy. You need to apologize, even if you offended someone unintentionally. This will make the relationship stronger.
5. Protect yourself
We get exactly what we are willing to endure. If someone breaks boundaries, allows themselves snide remarks, and you tolerate it, it will happen again and again. Moreover, what is happening is your fault. Protect yourself, show others how you should and should not behave with you, do not communicate with those who are trying to intimidate.
6. Talk about yourself
In the world of business, self-promotion is indispensable, leave false modesty and talk about ideas, thoughts and talents so that as many people as possible know about them.
7. Rock the Boat
If someone does not agree with your opinion, this is not a reason to give up. Do not try to please everyone, argue, defend your point of view.
8. Don’t Invest in What Doesn’t Work
We tend to spend time, money and energy on things we have invested a lot in. But if you invest in something that does not bring you closer to the goal, you do not have resources left for what is important. Find the courage to let go of dead ends and move on.
9. Hold grudges
The weak do not know how to forgive, the strong forgive so that the past does not interfere with moving forward. Write a letter to the person you are offended by. It is not necessary to send it, in the process of writing you will be able to let go of resentment.
10. Get determined
Often the fear of making the wrong decision prevents you from doing the right thing. In the short term, it seems to be safer this way. But indecision negatively affects success, relationships, business, finances, and peace of mind. Listen to your inner voice, and then take action.
Fight fear every day, do what will pull you out of your comfort zone. By showing courage, you deprive fear of power and become stronger.
