A person’s life is his greatest value, and who will take care of it better than himself. Unfortunately, both in the modern chaotic immoral world and in the wild nature, dangers and accidents constantly lie in wait for us. Just a minute ago, you were laughing carelessly in the park surrounded by friends, and already now, on the way home, you were attacked by a robber or caught by a natural element (for example, a tornado). The first defensive reaction of a person is stupor and panic, and often every second and minute counts. It is very important to develop a lightning-fast reaction to unpredictable unpleasant events, which will protect your life from irreparable consequences.
As the saying goes, forewarned is forearmed. Therefore, our task for today is to tell you about 10 useful life hacks that at some point can save your life.
10 If the car is in the water, do not open the doors immediately
The first reaction of a drowning person in a car is to get out of it as soon as possible. As is often the case, electronics fail, doors or windows, and seat belts can jam. And even if you managed to open the door at once, there is a possibility that while you are unfastening, the water will quickly fill the cabin, and you will start to choke. The best solution in this situation is to unfasten the belts and partially lower the windows, which will allow the cabin to slowly and gradually fill with water. Then try to get out through the window or open the door.
9. If you feel that you are being followed or attacked, scatter your personal belongings
Sometimes it happens that you are walking in a dark alley and you literally feel with your back that you are being followed. If you turn around and see a suspicious person, then immediately turn closer to the windows of residential buildings or the roadway, where there may be witnesses. If, nevertheless, the offender caught up with you and began to threaten, then try to scatter personal items from the bag around, leave items of clothing. Firstly, it will distract the robber, because he is not so much interested in your life as in the profit that has already become available. Secondly, it will be easier for the police to determine your trajectory of movement using personal cards and objects, even if you are kidnapped or taken around a dark corner.
8.
Pedestrians sincerely believe that the driver feels confident in the car and always has the necessary traffic rules certificate, so they boldly walk behind the car. In fact, it is always necessary to leave the opportunity for the driver to reverse, make a maneuver, and brake hard. Remember that every car has a “blind zone”, and if you get there, the driver will not notice you in the rear-view mirrors and side mirrors. This happens when a pedestrian crosses the road by getting too close to the vehicle. The issue is also relevant for cyclists who follow the car back to back.
7. Do not conflict with other road users
Continuing the theme of car traffic, we advise you to be more attentive and focused on the road. Often, drivers begin to swear from scratch, sometimes even without leaving the car, because they still cannot influence the conflict. As a result, a quarrel is kindled from scratch, which can lead to mutual insults, beatings and even injuries up to and including death. Do not forget that swearing at the wheel reduces the concentration of the driver, therefore, in a state of passion, he can become an unwitting initiator of an accident in which other people will suffer.
6. Do not wash the wound in the pond
If you find yourself in a forest, steppe or other wilderness, while receiving a wound in the process of moving or from a bite of wild animals, then, of course, you need to find a way to disinfect the skin. At first glance, it may seem that washing it in the nearest body of water can save the day. But you must take into account that in the wild, a specific microflora lives in the water, including bacteria and pathogenic microbes. And stagnant water itself accumulates the waste products of other animals and plants, which can provoke infection of the wound. The best solution would be to look for medicinal herbs (for example, celandine or plantain), form a fresh cut and treat the damage with healing juice.
5. How to survive in the water with trousers – turn them into a life jacket
We found ourselves in open water without buoys and objects within sight – pants will help save lives! This trick was once used by sailors. The legs of the trousers must be tied into a knot, while holding the belt with your hands. Then hit the water surface with the resulting “design” several times, which will allow air to enter the legs, turning them into a kind of inflatable life jacket. The method, of course, is dubious, but it’s better than nothing.
4. If you are stuck in the snow for a long time, do not eat it.
As a rule, when you get stuck on an icy peak or after a collapse of the slopes on a hike, you think about the water the least. However, if your metabolism still requires life-giving moisture, then try to refrain from eating snow instead of water. It turns out that our body spends a significant amount of valuable energy on the transformation of moisture from one state of aggregation (solid snow) to another (liquid water). As a result of the loss of this very energy, a rapid hypothermia of the body occurs, which reduces your survival resource. Snow can be used in small quantities only in case of unbearable thirst, but it is better to try to melt it by some method.
3. Once in a rip current, do not immediately swim to the shore
A rip current is an increased flow of water that forms near the shore. Getting into it, you can push out into the open sea (ocean) with the enormous force of the water flow, or move along the river bed, risking injury on the rocky bottom and snags. If you are caught in such a current, then do not try to swim against it towards the shore. Your task is to get out strictly perpendicular to the flow and only then diagonally.
2. In case of an explosion, you need to open your mouth
If you find yourself in an emergency area or a fire zone, then always remember the “golden rule” that with loud sounds you need to open your mouth as wide as possible, and maybe even scream. This will help prevent damage to the eardrums and reduce the risk of concussion. Also remember that you need to move carefully in the danger zone, as there may be other explosives nearby, and the next volleys will follow the explosion.
1. Do not seek cover under bridges during a tornado
If you live in a region where tornadoes are not uncommon, hiding under tall structures (including bridges) is not a good idea. As practice shows, bridges, balconies, towers, sheds and other high-rise structures collapse under the influence of a tornado in the first place, dragging their inattentive victims under the rubble. By the way, opening windows in a house or car to relieve pressure during a tornado is also wrong advice.
It would seem that the recommendations are quite simple and intuitive. However, in a state of shock and stupor, a person may not immediately figure out how to react in this or that extreme situation. We advise you to carefully remember these life hacks in order to be ready in case of danger.
