10 Things You Can’t Buy at Grocery Stores

Of course, there are exceptions everywhere. However, things from these categories are better in supermarkets, and especially in local shops, it is better to leave them on the shelf.

Grocery and freezing by weight

First of all, you have no idea how many of these products are already in the trays. Sometimes you can tell by eye that the frost is very old: vegetables shrink, dry out. In the case of semi-finished products, everything is more complicated, and with groceries, it is completely incomprehensible. But that’s not the point. And the fact that everyone climbs into the tray, scooping up food. It is pouring from hands and clothes into the tray … Why isn’t it just pouring down there. In addition, some not very responsible citizens climb into the trays with their hands, pouring, for example, rice between their fingers. Most likely not very clean.

Crockery

In large supermarkets, you can find quite decent brands, and sometimes not even too expensive when you are lucky enough to get on the action. But in smaller stores, the dishes are usually not very high quality, little-known brands and often of indistinct origin. It is usually inexpensive, but you cannot vouch for its quality.

Stationery

Still, a grocery store – that’s what a grocery store is for. If “non-core” goods appear there, they are usually more expensive than in the same office supply. In addition, demand for such products is unlikely to be great in a store where people are used to shopping for milk. So it is quite possible that pens and markers are already “half-dead”.

Ready meal

Firstly, it is not very healthy in terms of proper nutrition. You have no idea how it is prepared, how much sugar, oil and salt it contains. Secondly, it is much more expensive than cooking yourself. Thirdly, some stores sin by not sending the freshest products to the kitchen. For example, rinsing the chicken with bleach before sending it to the grill.

Cereal bars

Granola, muesli – sounds great. An excellent and proper snack for those on the PP. However, in reality, store-bought granola is often just stuffed with sugar, covered with glaze and flavored with butter. Therefore, the benefits in it are much less than the extra calories. By the way, you can make granola at home, it’s easy.

Pancake mix

And also a ready-made mixture for pancakes, muffins, muffins. There is absolutely no sense in such a purchase, as well as in self-rising flour. After all, you yourself can mix all the ingredients together: flour, sugar, baking powder, butter and eggs. And in those proportions that seem the most reasonable to you. And in ready-made mixtures, milk is dry, eggs are in powder form. It is unlikely that it will be tastier than one made with your own hands from scratch.

Sliced and peeled fruits and vegetables

Apples, pears, grapes and celery, carrot and cucumber straws, even watermelons, washed and carefully chopped are such wonderful healthy snacks! But only if you make them yourself: thoroughly wash and pack. Then you can be sure of the quality of the products (very perishable) and do not pay extra.

Salad dressings

Dressings and sauces – from these words any nutritionist begins to spit bile. This is because they contain a lot of hidden fats and sugars. Store-bought sauce instantly boosts the calorie content of the dish to the skies. In addition, the dressing is very easy to prepare yourself, simply by mixing the oil with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, or something else to taste.

Специи

It is better to buy spices in the market, where you can be sure of their quality. Black pepper in a bag can easily be in half with dust and sand, and red will be devoid of any aroma. It is very easy to run into fake spices like saffron or cinnamon. Indeed, in an opaque bag, you cannot see anything.

Bouquets and flowers in pots

Ready-made cut flower bouquets in supermarkets are usually not very fresh. Most likely, it will wither very quickly. But if you need a bouquet-“excuse”, just to give, then this will do. For some reason, potted flowers bought in large stores often perish at home. The roots have to be washed with potassium permanganate and reanimated for a long time.
