10 photos of self-restoring washing machine shock absorbers

Is the washing machine buzzing, vibrating and jumping during the spin cycle? The reason may be in the dampers of the device. These parts are located at the bottom of the housing and contain return springs that reduce vibration during operation of the SMA. Let’s figure out how to restore the shock absorbers of the washing machine.

Here’s how to do the DIY repair:

You can restore almost any shock absorbers of the Samsung, Bosch, Ardo, Zanussi washing machines of earlier releases. In the latest models, dampers can be used, which differ in design, but are also subject to repair.

The photo shows 17-year-old shock absorbers from a Zanussi machine. The pads here have long been out of order.

Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the cuffs from their place.

Take a piece of linoleum. You can also use a leather belt – anything that fits in thickness and sits in the grooves. According to the reviews of some users, it is dangerous to use rubber, it can jam movements while absorbing vibrations. It is best to take felt or liners from the bumpers of the car pillars. Some craftsmen even wind tape under a whole stuffing box.

Cut the linoleum into strips. Remember that the width must match the seat of the shock absorber from the washing machine.

Insert the strips into the slots. Secure them with superglue or hot glue.

Insert the inner sleeve into the body, move the elements, checking how tightly the pads are seated.

If everything suits, cover the inside of the housing with grease so that the seals do not wear out during operation.

It is best to use bearing grease. The tool has the necessary viscosity and heat resistance.

Assemble the device, make sure that all elements move normally.

Can they be installed in a washer? Certainly. Repair is rational, because it is easy to do it yourself. It’s also cheaper than buying new shock absorbers. In Samsung and Lg machines, devices are easily removed, as they are fixed with bushings. But the owners of Indesit will have to drill a hole to remove the part. Here the mount to the tank is cast.
