Russian cinema has long been criticized, and single films deserve praise, which are an exception to the rule.
First of all, 3 things are always scolded: the script, directors and actors, and the latter usually get the least.
Despite the frankly bad acting and poor choice of role, many actors still remain in demand and regularly appear in new films. Gradually, they become so popular that they are called “the best” and “the hope of domestic cinema”, although in fact this is far from the case.
Today we will consider a dozen actors whose talent is clearly overrated.
10 Paulina Andreeva
The beloved and muse of Fyodor Bondarchuk received acting education at the Moscow Art Theater School, and later she was even accepted into the Moscow Chekhov Theater. This suggests that Paulina is not self-taught, experienced acting teachers worked with her, but many viewers find it hard to believe.
Having shown herself quite well in the TV series “The Thaw”, she became less and less convincing in further works, especially against the background of more talented colleagues. The series “Method”, in which Andreeva played along with Konstantin Khabensky, is rightfully considered one of the best domestic products over the past 20 years (in the fall, by the way, the second season will be released), and the only thing the series is scolded for is just for the character of Paulina Andreeva.
9. Anastasia Zavorotnyuk
The actress, who received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 2006, has starred in several dozen films and TV series in quite diverse roles during her career.
Among her works, you can find typical melodramas, comedies, and even action movies, but not a single image helped her get out of the role of Vicky’s nanny from the sensational sitcom My Fair Nanny. Everyone has long accepted the fact that this role is the ceiling for Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, above which she will not jump.
8. Alexander Petrov
Perhaps the most popular actor of modern Russian cinema at first glance has solid advantages: charismatic, bright, energetic.
The problem is that he became a hostage to his energy, which created a certain image for him, in which he was stuck. “Policeman from Rublyovka”, “The Law of the Stone Jungle”, “Attraction” – Petrov is absolutely the same everywhere. This, by the way, was noticed in an interview by Yuri Dud, but the actor categorically disagreed with the journalist’s arguments.
According to him, he plays completely different characters, with different personalities and motivations. That’s how it is, but this is not visible to the average viewer, but the same intonations, facial expressions, gestures, branded obscenities, and so on are clearly visible.
7. Marina Alexandrova
Why she is trusted with the role of historical characters like Empress Catherine II or actress Valentina Sedova is a question that torments many viewers. According to most critics, Marina Alexandrovna “does not pull” such works, which is why good films suffer.
Nevertheless, at 36, she remains in demand (not least thanks to her marriage to Channel One director Andrei Boltenko), although professional growth has not been noticed for a long time.
6. Marat Basharov
The situation with Marat Basharov is debatable, as his talent cannot be denied. Everyone remembers his early roles in the films “Voroshilovsky shooter” or “Border. A Taiga Romance”, which, even if desired, is difficult to find fault with.
The problem is that in recent years he has turned from an actor into a TV presenter, and he conducts dubious programs (which is only worth the “Battle of Psychics”).
Accusations of beating his wife and regular lies in interviews also did not do him any good, so we can safely say that now there is little left of the actor in him.
5. Alexandra Bortic
This actress with Belarusian roots is only 24 years old, but she has more than a dozen roles to her credit. Every year she is filmed in at least 5 films, which, despite the commercial success, do not carry great artistic value.
“Policeman from Rublyovka” (where she plays the sister of the hero Alexander Petrov), “I’m losing weight”, “Mistresses” – this, of course, is fun, but obviously not the ultimate dream.
It is noteworthy that Bortich does not have an acting education: she tried to enter the theater institute, but could not pass the competitive selection. For this, she is often criticized not only by the audience, but also by colleagues in the craft, since not everyone loves self-taught people who are in great demand.
4. Dmitry Dyuzhev
Having become famous after filming in the “Brigade” and securing success with the film “Blind Man’s Buff”, Dyuzhev then made a lot of efforts to get out of the image of a bandit, but he did not succeed. O
He tried to try on both comedic images and dramatic ones – everywhere he either lacked something, or, on the contrary, he clearly overacted. If shooting in the continuation of “Burnt by the Sun” he can still be forgiven, then “Pregnant” put a greasy stain on his career and reputation.
3. Lisa Boyarskaya
Apart from the role of Anna Karenina, the career of Elizaveta Boyarskaya is a series of identical characters in which only clothes and background change. Unconvincingly acting out the drama and ineptly trying to joke, she only digs herself deeper, which does not prevent her from remaining in demand and acting regularly.
One gets the impression that the recognition of an actor is more important for Russian directors than his ability to act.
2. Danila Kozlovsky
And again, the same problem as most of the heroes of our selection – monotony. Valery Kharlamov from Legends No. 17 and Maxim Andreev from Duhless turned out to be excellent characters, but the merit here is not Kozlovsky, but the high quality of the films themselves.
Nevertheless, now he is almost the face of our cinema, so he is even invited to film abroad: he appeared in the Vikings (talking about the series from History) and McMafia from the BBC and AMC.
1. Svetlana Hodchenkova
To see our Russian actress with Hugh Jackman in the Wolverine: Immortal solo movie was cool, but a little sad. Khodchenkova got an interesting character, which in the end turned out to be “nothing” just through her fault. It was clear how faded she looked against the background of the others, as if she did not understand what they wanted from her at all.
It is not known whether she will be able to break into Hollywood, but with us she is still one of the most sought after.
