The romantic film “Love, Rosie” was based on the novel “Where the Rainbow Ends” by Cecilia Ahern and appealed to millions of viewers.
A simple, uncomplicated story about love through time and despite the distance, the creators presented it with appropriate humor, and the actors played it right.
Despite the simplicity of the picture and the genre as a whole, it is not so easy to find the closest tapes, but we managed to do it. Here is a list of movies similar to Love Rosie made in different countries over the years.
10 When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Harry (played by Billy Crystal) is dating his girlfriend Sally (played by Meg Ryan). One day, Sally is going to move to New York, where Harry also needs to go at the same time, so they become fellow travelers.
During the conversation, sympathy arises between them, but Sally agrees only to friendship. Harry is sure that he cannot just be friends with a beautiful girl, so they part.
Their next meeting will take place in 5 years, when each of them is in a relationship. They will disperse again and meet again, but after 6 years. Each of them is lonely and unhappy, so friendship arises by itself.
It will take 12 whole years before both realize that they love each other and they can no longer part.
Complicated at times but interesting plot “When Harry Met Sally” was appreciated by the British Film Academy, which presented the picture with a prize for the best screenplay.
9. Three meters above the sky (2010)
Melodrama protagonist “Three Steps Above Heaven” – a young rebel who does not recognize authorities. Quite by accident, he meets a girl whom he likes to tease and annoy in every possible way.
Gradually, for the sake of fun, he begins to try to fall in love with her and does not notice how he falls head over heels in love. She loves him back, but their happiness is in serious trouble.
We will not spoil the ending, just say that it is quite atypical for the melodrama genre, which makes the picture even more interesting. However, for the beauty and charm of the young Mario Casas, the girls will forgive this film all the flaws.
8. Friendship (2011)
main characters “Friendship” – a young guy and a girl who recently survived a breakup. They quickly find a common language and communicate well, until one day they decide to have sex.
Convincing themselves that after this they will be able to continue to be friends, they do not even suspect how stormy the romance is ahead of them.
Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake perfectly played their roles: you believe and even empathize with them, as far as it is possible within the framework of the romantic comedy genre.
7. Baby (2014)
In this melodrama, at least the cast attracts: Keira Knightley, Sam Rockwell and Chloe Grace Moretz are an excellent trio.
The plot revolves around heart problems, but not one person, but several at once. Here are the difficulties of adult couples, and youth, and even the difficulties of first love among adolescents.
This means that “Baby” perfect for family viewing, because despite the abundance of jokes, toilet humor is not here, which is a rarity for Hollywood comedies in recent years.
6. Friendship and no sex? (2013)
Many fans of the Harry Potter cinematic universe lamented that the protagonist did not have a normally written love line, and the relationship with Ginny Weasley appeared as if out of thin air.
This can’t be fixed, but you can look at Daniel Radcliffe building a relationship with a girl in a comedy “Friendship and no sex?”.
He was accompanied by Adam Driver and Zoe Kazan on the set. The plot is simple: boy, girl, sex, regret, acceptance, happy ending.
5. Just Friends (2005)
At school, Chris was a fat and ugly guy, firmly established in the friend zone of the beautiful Jamie. An attempt to confess his love to her turned into a shame and after graduation, Chris left for another city.
After 10 years, he became a successful music producer, lost weight and became a real heartthrob. By chance, he ended up in his hometown and again met school love, feelings for which did not fade over time.
It would seem that now it will not be difficult for him to win her heart, but an unexpected rival appears on the horizon, and circumstances do not turn out the way they should.
In film “Just friends” starred the most popular comedians of the early XNUMXs: Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, Amy Smart, Christopher Marquette, Chris Klein and others.
4. Simple (2015)
Kind, smart and sympathetic comedy heroine “Simple” one day she finds out that her friends consider her FB: Fat Ugly Girlfriend. She, indeed, is not popular at school, although she communicates with “successful” guys.
With this social status, she has no chance to win the heart of the handsome Toby from the football team, so she makes a deal with another player, Wesley: she helps him with his studies, and he teaches her how to dress and communicate with guys.
Gradually, she realizes that she really loves another, and her teacher and at the same time student Wesley begins to see a real diamond in this gray mouse.
3. More than love (2005)
The plot of the movie “More than love”, at first glance, as simple as two pennies. Before us are two people: Oliver and Emily. They met by chance and have been communicating for 7 years, each living his own life.
Unsuccessful relationships follow one after another, and friendship only grows stronger, until finally they realize that they will not be better than with each other.
It’s hard to say how this story catches the viewer: whether it’s the on-screen chemistry between Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet, or the director Nigel Cole did his best.
Be that as it may, the fact remains: an hour and a half spent watching will fly by unnoticed, and after the final credits there will be no feeling that the time was wasted.
2. The Best of Me (2014)
Film “The Best of Me” turned out to be ambiguous, but we could not help but include it in the selection, since the plot is closely related to “Love, Rosie”.
The main shortcomings for which this melodrama was scolded were a huge number of coincidences, sometimes too fantastic. This does not allow you to feel the atmosphere, because what is happening on the screen is hard to believe. This was the main reason why the tape received a rating of 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and 29% on Metacritic.
The only thing the film was not scolded for was James Marsden’s acting, especially against the background of Michelle Monaghan.
As for the plot, it revolves around two people who were in love in their youth, then broke up, met many years later, but something again interferes with their happiness. Problems with parents, alcoholism, family violence – really a lot of things are mixed here.
1. Stuck in Love (2012)
Let’s end with an independent dramatic comedy “Stuck in love” Josh Boone, which centers on the relationship between successful writer Bill (Greg Kinnear), his ex-wife Erica (Jennifer Connelly) and their children.
The family will have to rebuild love and learn to understand each other, although from the outside it may seem that it is too late.
In addition to the twisted plot, the film is also interesting for its colorful cast: for example, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Patrick starred in a small episode, and the writer Stephen King appeared in a cameo.
