The scene of the second story is a mythical desert, which means a complete “absolute”, where there is no such thing as “time”. This part of the film is about a young outcast who is a cannibal. He ate his own father first. In the desert, this man eats animals. Occasionally he comes across people. When he was caught, he happily talked about eating his father.
The director of the film, Pier Paolo Pasolini, said that by cannibalism he meant an extreme degree of protest.

One day she saw a night porter – a former German officer Max, who once sadistically mocked her. Suddenly, Lucia had some especially quivering feelings for him and they began to spend time together for a long time.
